Here I am demonstrating one way of making quick studies, just to play and explore composition.

I agree with the other comments here that these are amazing pieces of art despite them being "only quick studies". These are fantastically inspiring!

Your “playful little studies” are works of art.

These are as legitimate art as any “ full blown “ painting, and I frankly prefer this style

"playful little studies" she says. for me they're works of art! Great lesson - can't wait to get home and try this out. Why didn't I discover this channel sooner??

I’m impressed with how these little experiments are transformed with the addition of fine detail like the lines and spatters. (Not to mention, cropping!) while you might not consider them finished works, they are certainly a level up from just playing. I will certainly try this soon. Thanks!
@jdaviesVT3 жыл бұрын
Do try them. Any techniques will do, but one key is to LIMIT the number of techniques you are using, and limit your time on them. The other key is to let them be NOT good, NOT finished.

One of the hardest things for me is to let go and not overthink but when I do, I have the most fun and other feel a sense of liberation. Plus, there’s also the possibility I’ll end up with something really cool. If not, it’s not the end of the world, I can just paint over it or use as a background for adding other layers. It’s [and should be] all in the name of fun!

You could make use of a margarine tub lid just cut to size.

What do y'all do with your artwork? I have hundreds of paintings, collages, greeting cards, matted paintings. Just sitting in a closet. I live in a small town that still isn't doing art shows. What to do with all my work? I tried social media but that was useless. I've given my friends so many paintings I'm sure they don't want any more

What kind of paper do you use? The cheaper papers are buckling up on me even though they say “mixed media”.

@margauxv253 жыл бұрын
Michaels had them. Cheap joes art supply has them. Look for them in the mixed media section or near the Gelli print supplies.
@margauxv253 жыл бұрын
Actually, michaels had them near the Gelli print supplies which were directly across from the rubber stamps. Having them myself tho, they don't work much differently than old credit cards or a spatula for drywall you would find at the hardware store. Just use what you have. It's the idea behind it, of just pushing paint around with a flat service as your tool.
@jdaviesVT3 жыл бұрын
The squeegees are available at Cold Wax Academy. coldwaxacademy.com/squeegees/
