Thank you so much for this. All was going well, but after importing my spreed sheet and checking the cards in the browse folder only Card 1 showed up. So I did the whole process again (and used Google sheets as the first time I had used Excel) - still the same. I chose the Basic (and reverse card). The second time I tried Basic (optional reverse card) - still the same. I think I may now try one of the other options that is Basic and reverse but is already being used by some other decks that I have imported from other authors. The other thing is that I have images for my words instead of using the English. I am not a spreed sheet user generally, and found that importing images to the spreedsheet didn’t work! I have actually made some of my own Anki cards, but it has been time consuming as I wasn’t using the spreed sheet method! If images can be added at the spreedsheet stage this would be really helpful - is it possible? Thank you again, Sally…. just seen your video on adding images!! ha ha

The note type you are using may not be inline with your information. How many different fields do you have on your spreadsheet? I have an older video that discusses adding image files: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJiTamiHnsqWaa8

So I assume we have to create a new spreadsheet to upload new information into the app so we don't upload the old stuff twice? (Then move the new stuff over to the old sheet.)

In theory yes. Because I have been using Anki for years, I have used several different versions of it. If memory serves me (it doesn't always, LOL!) previous versions recognized the duplicates, but then another version of Anki called my card a duplicate even though the 2 cards were substantially different with the exception of the first field. I would do what you said to be "better safe than sorry."

Once I have deleted the header row on my spreadsheet, I have a problem with the column for sound during the import process as there is nothing in it. When it shows up as nothing on the field mapping, what do you do?

My first question is: Do your audio file names contain any spaces? Anki cannot read spaces. So if your file names contain spaces, you need to rename them accordingly. Second: How are you placing the sound into your spreadsheet? [sound:nameofsoundfile.mp3] Is how it should look.

As for the audio files, how do I insert them? and above all where can I find the files of a word or phrase? do I use google translate?

You can copy and paste any vocabulary list into a spreadsheet. Please let me know if you have more specific question.

Google Sheets has an iphone app to create the cards.
