"How much fun can be garnered from reattaching severed limbs?", and my instant mental image is of a human adventurer with the arms of an Ogre stitched onto their shoulders.

Revisiting this video now that I have rules in hand! This video is very helpful to a new player, summarizing the basic mechanics. Thanks, Bud!

Just don't take a hit to the chest or head that would sever a limb, instant death. Also I think if your too far away from a healer there is a time limit on allowing you to re attach a limb? I personally like the rule / spell as I would hate to grow a character only to permanently lose a limb , then what start again? Its a magical realm and I love Glorantha. Currently in a RQG campaign now and loving it, we are just finishing up in Snake Pipe Hollow.

I ran 2nd edition for a little while (although two 12 hour games every week that long winter added up to fair amount of playing time). I ran (and played in) 3rd edition for something like 16 years and was still running a house variant of it as recent as a couple years ago. I'd pretty much sworn off buying anything new...but this looks interesting. I found this to be a good review BTW.

RQ is in a very good place at the moment. It's finally getting the recognition it deserves and is selling incredibly well.

My best times playing Runequest were back in the 80's playing RQ, not the Avalon Hill one but the one before. Great system and a nice change from D&D. I remember always thinking wow I can actually use my shield and body parts can take damage. D&D made you feel like your a walking pool of hitpoints.

I was so excited to get a copy of this at free rpg day. The only version I had prior experience with was mongoose 1st.

There’s something going on here with volume inconsistency it’s like loud but whispering I’ve got it blasting in my car but I can’t understand what is being said over the sound of the engine and it’s hurting my ears

I recently purchased Magic World and loved it. After some investigation, I learned it had a lot of elements from Elric! and, it turns out, Runequest 3rd edition. I had never played RQ, but I now took notice. However, the sixth edition didn't appeal. It seemed too slow and cumbersome for my tastes. As a result, I was delighted they were going back to an older edition. Any idea how this version, perhaps mainly based on 2nd edition, differs from the 3rd edition rules?
@BudsRPGreview6 жыл бұрын
2nd Edition was considered by Chaosium to be the least "broken" version of the system - a view shared by many. The best way of describing this, IMHO, is mostly RQ2 with elements of RQ3 and RQ6. It's difficult to pick out certain points where it differs, but I think you need to check out to kind of see for yourself. This feels like a version of the system that is VERY comfortable.

Good review, could have done without the scenario spoilers. Will you be doing a review of the full game now the PDF is out or waiting for the hardback? It looks totally beautiful.
@BudsRPGreview6 жыл бұрын
In all fairness, I did say "There will be spoilers from this point on, so if you have plans to play this, this is your one and only warning to stop reading." I don't review PDFs, but I do intend on reviewing the hardback, yes. It does indeed look beautiful.
@aikighost6 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's fair enough, just just genuinely believe the review didn't need it and would have been better without. Very much looking forward to your full product review. Also as an aside your voice is very good, like the accent and your tone is smooth and relaxing to listen to.

Cheers dude. Don't forget to subscribe as I have a load more RuneQuest reviews coming up (Trollpak, Griffin Mountain, Vikings, Land of Ninja, Cults of Prax etc.) and will be reviewing RQG when it comes into print.

Have done already. :) As an aside have you looked at Symbaroum and it supplements yet? Its absolutely beautiful, well written and immersive a top notch modern but dark RPG.

@@BudsRPGreview Sorry. I used to be a GM. I almost was thinking of getting back into games just because it involves fun and friendship. And then things keep turning up almost daily IRL that make me angry, so fun and friendship wants to go on the back burner while I go deal with stupid people. I haven't done anything illegal yet, but I'm getting there. I'm sorry for picking on you. You have a good channel, so I'll stop being a jerk to you, I promise. I have no right.

@@gavingleemonex3898 Sounds like you need to put some distance between the haters and yourself. There are lovely people out there - join a few Discords and get in on a remote game. Let me know if you want to know a few.
