@@eric-wb7gjYou can blame RNG. But the FV201 would have easily killed him with AP, and the KV-2 would have easily killed him with HE, which are the usual main ammo types for these vehicles anyway.

Only hitting for 7 H.E damage is awful, you'd expect more. KV2 player was very bad. Combination of bad play & bad luck for enemy team, but the type 59 player made the most of it.

But FV201 has a low caliber gun with rubbish HE damage and pen, I wouldn't have been surprised if it would have been absorbed by the tracks and dealt no damage at all. Certainly wouldn't have trusted in an HE shell killing the Type 59. With AP, penetrating wouldn't have been a problem, the hull would have been an easy pen, especially from the side.

Probably the most shocking thing about this game is that at least ONE of the enemy tanks were capable of thinking and breathing at the same time and loaded/fired HE, but were still screwed at the end. HE fired for SEVEN DAMAGE and he was on 9 hitpoints ... with the old HE mechanics, Vid_J is 100% dead and this would've been a heartbreaker. But talk about a massive throw by the enemy team ... this game HAS to have the absolute worst playerbase of any F2P online multiplayer game ever, no? Because matches (and enemies) like this continue to reinforce that statement.

I think the FV still had the right idea to load HE as that 17-pounder gun (and a VERY bad 17-pounder at that) would've had a lot of trouble going through the front of a hull-down Type-59, so he really got screwed there ... but if the old HE mechanics were still in play, Vid_J would've been 100% dead there. He got VERY lucky.

And the fv was in a position to where even if the type 59 was on the ramp he can still shoot his hull. That 17 pdr has very pretty apcr pen. I get what your saying tho.

The Type was a *pest* back in the days... I remember good how we celebrated every kill of it. (after bouncing a lot) And then the horror of Type-59-platoons circling you...

The original was a beast before they nerfed it. The game only went to tier 9. The hull armor was 200 mm. The turret was 247 mm. The gun handling and pen were mediocre at best, but MY GOD! 3 in a platoon would wreck an entire flank in 2 minutes. We would type in chat that we were going to bumrush one side with our platoon, 7 or 8 more would usually come with. The amount of times we crushed one side of a map in absolute chaos and destruction, to a torrent of laughs and giggles in voice chat were unforgettable. Good times.

The KV2 is the best example for how stupid the average wot player is. Just shows how many players simply turn off their brain when playing the game. Literally no reason for him to load AP there. Even just splashing the Type 59 would have sufficed to take him out.

Introduction of type-59 was the first time I thought "this is pay to win". Back in a day penetration values were much lower, T-44 had a top gun with 175mm or 180 pen. And then this thing comes along, a medium tank that you have problem penetrating on the upper plate! I hated it for quite a while.

The type 59 is a good tank but that was never really the issue. It was the type 59 "wolf packs". Where they would platoon x3 and any others would work with them. THAT was when they were just nasty.

the skin is called "Old man" and it's a relatively new skin (introduced just 1 or 2 years back), that goes on sale "regularly" whenever the tank is on sale. Also it is by far 1 of the best 3d-styles in the game (I just love these pretty realistic battlescarred styles). IRL speaking it transforms the base-model Type-59 into a Type-69-II

Then, realize that those moppets absolutely cut through Vid_J's team like a hot knife through butter.
