Your thoughts on working for yourself resonates with me. I work for myself too and end up working every day, and I can’t really see any financial benefit for it other than just keeping my chin above the water. I fancy the idea of a no build fit out of my Skoda and just disappearing somewhere in it. But I have a bad back and I like my hot showers too much! But at least I can live vicariously through your trips. You get to create something beautiful in your work. 100 years from now, someone might be wearing one of your beautiful pieces of jewellery. I can guarantee you no one will be reading one of my reports I write in 100 years, cause I don’t think anyone’s reading them now 😢😢😢 I guess if you do end up working every day, at least what you do is bringing some beauty into the world!

I reckon it’s nice to have you car like that even if you are just going out for the day so you can kind of spend more time somewhere and enjoy it a bit more. It may not be best for bad backs 😅 hot showers are my favourite thing too in all honesty! Yeah that is a nice thing about the jewellery, and i hope it is the case. Great to see such a healthy camp meal in a video. I'm plant based wholefoods and liked that. Rarely seen a healthy meal in camp videos I watched. Yeah, big execs force us to work more so our taxes go to weapons for more wars. We are here for a purpose and it's not to be trapped in an office working all hours. Esp those who fall for the marketing to get the latest cars and phones etc on HP. Another inspiring lady camper I watch just passed to be a driving instructor. That sounded quite good as can work whatever hours want and there is demand for it.

I've watched your videos for about a year now; maybe longer. Sorry about Nancy; lovely dog. Had to comment on this one. First, I had to stop watching at about 12:15 minutes in. I've just sort of semi-retired, at three days short of my 70th birthday. I've been self-employed since 1991, and know *exactly* what you're talking about. A client was once amazed that I worked seven day weeks for months at an end. Forcing myself to work six days was a major breakthrough! The work I did involved tracking three time zones, (West Coast USA, UK, and Far East) at times, so forget long sleeps. Punishing. So I get it. And I think what you're doing re: travelling is exactly right, and boy do I wish I'd done it. Second, I don't recall any other of your videos playing music. What is this song? Please someone let me know, or I'll have to ask my daughter, which would be embarrassing!

Thank you 😞 I miss her every day. It sounds like you are taking a well earned retirement, make it full time! At least I don’t have all those time zones to deal with, that would break me, what a gruelling schedule. 6 days sounds a bit better 😅 i think taking a whole day and refusing to do anything work related is really important and i need to start trying to do that instead of always being on call. I feel like going back to a phone that had nothing but texts and snake because it’s so hard when your whole business is on your phone not to look at things! Ah they do always have music but not often with lyrics, I thought I’d put it in the description but i see i didn’t thanks for the reminder I’ve just added it in! The mountains are grand and full of drama but I'd begin to feel boxed in after awhile. I need a distant horizon to look towards. Give me rolling meadows and seascapes and I can breathe out fully. Regarding life balance, I think it's all fluid. What's right for August might not be right for September. Speaking personally this year has seen continued trials. People say 'remember self-care' like just saying it and hearing it is a magic bullet but I'm never quite sure how that applies to real life and all it's uncontrollables in a practical sense? I think the most you can do during such times is accept the damage but remain robust and never lose sight of that distant horizon. It's hanging in there and working toward something better. Sometimes that's all you can do. Anyway, I've gone on a bit but you raise significant subject matters. Thank you for showing me the sea. Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!🌻
@missnancysdayoff2 ай бұрын
There is something about a long horizon to lighten the heart. You’re kind of right about self care just a catch phrase now, but i guess it a reminder to remember to look after ourselves which is going to be different at all times i guess. Sometimes as simple as remembering to eat or go outside or really feel the sun on your skin. I am trying to keep working towards that distant horizon like you say, it’s still there somewhere ☺️ maybe by the sea! 🌊

Good morning 🌅, 😂, Tori , great to see you about in Northumberland, on the coast, I am not telling what to do but I hope you are looking 👀 for pieces of driftwood, even sometimes in the hedgerow and fields you’ll find pieces of wood that you can accumulate to create a piece of art that you can mount your jewelry on, you might even be able to find a nice stone hall rock, that you can hang your jewelry on as a display, or even drill a hole in the piece of stone or rock then glue in a piece of wood into it creating a sculpture, I am many times your age, ha ha , 🤣, and I have worked for myself for many years, in some respect it is a luxury that you are your own boss, you can go and come when you please, but if you do not work, you’re not earning money, That is the downside of working for yourself, the upside is the more you work the better off you become, and remembering to put money aside for later later in life is a good idea, Sadly, I have just gone through a bad experience, I’ve just wasted 30 years of my life working all the hours that you can to restore a property in the UK and to renovate a property in France, I put my hard earned money into it, and all my savings, just to find out that I had been scammed by my ex female partner, I now live by myself as a recuse in rural France, you have the world at your feet, especially when walking on the beach bare footed😂, and obviously through experience, the world is not the bed of roses, And sometimes it is a struggle to start work each day, but if you stay positive and focus, it will all come right to you in the end, you have great skills and talent, and I wish you all the success for the future, ❤ from France.

Good ideas for the driftwood, i tr to restrain myself from collecting things i have no space for but for a purpose would be brilliant. I’m so sorry about what happened to you, life surely isn’t all roses, but i hope at you place in France you have somewhere you can feel content, sounds like a good place ton be. Thank you ☺️❤️

@@missnancysdayoff there is some amazing art being created with driftwood, and stones sculptures, I have a stream/river that runs along side my property, at the bottom of my garden is a sanded bank , I erect stone art right on the waters edge, the biggest one I’ve done so far is probably 3 1/2 feet in height, and it lasted for about two days not sure whether birds or an animal. I’ve pushed it over., I did build two about three weeks ago and they lasted for quite awhile, until I had a storm, the river came up and washed them away, and about five or six years ago I done a mini stone edge in the stream and I took some photographs of it. It looked quite good if I do say so myself., And thank you for your kind words , 🌹From France

Yeah, Tori, responsibility for your business is a difficult one. The sensible urge to make hay whilst the sun shines. I so look forward to your posts - they are authentic and relaxing and always leave my spirit refreshed. Such a rarity to watch such a video these days and it takes a talent to capture such emotions. As I watch your vids I literally always end up with Rudi in my arms; so grateful to have him, and his big grinning whiskers in my life. He gets me out even more than before - and I love it; who cares about the weather? As humans, many of us need another soul in our lives, to share love and life with. You've just gone to a place that I've not been to......just yet. Looks worthwhile and is at the end of the coast to coast path that I have got planned for next Spring. Meanwhile, next week, we are off to hike a long off-piste path in the South West as Autumn is nearly upon on us. Life has its little challenges and how we face up to those are what makes each of us special - I enjoy any challenge regardless of the size/complexity. There is always a silver lining; always, always, always. We choose how we react, especially to adverse events, and each teaches us a lesson - we don't need to surrender; just keep learning. Life's incredible. People like yourself are amazing and your posts remind me to keep being grateful every morning, to prioritise, to get up and to get away and to share experiences with my rescue boy. Thank you. 😎

I am so glad 😊 you know I agree about Rudi. They are very important. Your new walk sounds cool do you mean the coastal path or something else? Maybe it’s time I thought about that again. Your right about just learning from experiences anyway, they may not all be enjoyable but that’s ok 🙏 life is so confusing but it’s good to live it

@@missnancysdayoff Greetings....... the coast to coast is the walk across England popularised by Wainwright. Its mostly walked from West to East, starting in the Lake District. The first couple of days are quite hilly but thereafter eases up (or so I am told). I hiked a big chunk of the South West coastal path a few months ago, which is Britains longest trail at 630 miles - I found that a real challenge, though. I find these strolls really refreshing and always finish feeling totally recharged. Rudi gets really excited when he see's me packing his rucksack. We've just spent time at Europes biggest on the water boat show and again, Rudi spent the day grinning from ear to ear and making heaps of friends. He's a great ice breaker.

Nice video and sorry that you feel down. I'm a maintenance manager for an automotive company and it's 24/7, emails, breakdowns planning at the last minute due to other departments not doing their workload correctly so I comprehend what you are saying about your life. Keep your head up, be strong and try to switch off from the daily stuff and relax. Just over a year ago I dropped off due to stress as the expectancy to reality of work was too much and I nearly lost my lady due to this, I was working 20 plus hrs on some day to fix stuff others couldn't to keep the output going. Work is work, which I have come to terms with now but health and family come before that. Take a minute to breath, reflect and chill and hopefully that will help. x

That sounds like an extremely stressful job, huge amounts of people relying on you too no wonder it got to you. Your videos are always full of odd coincidences for me. Such as the duvet cover you have at the end of this one, the patchworky looking one... I've had that exact one since I was a child. 🤯 I also can't seem to find the time or money to do things for myself either and have the unhealthy habit of overdoing certain other things instead so I might understand how you feel a little bit there. Anyway, the video was lovely as usual. The music was a great choice and I love that Miss Nancy mug!

Hi Tori, did you find any sea glass on that beach? When you do these videos and visit these places do you still feel under pressure because you create content with the places you visit so you still feel that you're working or are you able to really relax? If I tried to put myself in your shoes I think visiting a place and having to think about filming and having enough content wouldn't really allow me to enjoy the experience as fully. I'm pleased to see you recognise the need for other distractions in your life so you don't end up working all day every day as difficult as that is. It's not worth sacrificing your mental and physical health. We spend a great deal of our time working towards a future us where we see ourselves in the future living a particular lifestyle that we desire but in the process we neglect the present us who suffers the consequences. But if the present us becomes unwell then the future us will not live the life we want them to live. Somehow we have to find pleasure completely in being the us now and have faith that the future us will be fine ❤
@missnancysdayoff2 ай бұрын
Not on that beach but I have been collecting! Well yeah it’s a bit of both, because I do vlog style videos there is pressure to fi if I go somewhere cool and that is a different experience for sure. Sometimes I wish I would do something cool and not film 😂 but you tube is so hungry! But I do enjoy it as well some parts especially. I guess it’s important to have some days and some things where you just do not film anything, tricky because it’s a bit of an addiction but I think feeling forced to do it constantly must be responsible for the ‘burn out’ I hear about. Yeah I’ve been thinking lately that I really want to focus on my health, not that there is anything wrong with it but if you don’t have good health you can’t enjoy life no matter what you achieve, and I know I’ve been in better places in terms of exercise routine, meditation, cooking etc and I’d like to get back to that really. Somehow it seems easier said than done, which it shouldn’t be really!
@Melatiah2 ай бұрын
@@missnancysdayoff I totally get that with a vlog unlike a tutorial which stands on its own with a vlog people constantly what to know what's going on in your life, what your up to next. But also the investment you put into your vlogs with all the traveling - which is you and it's what you enjoy - but it's still a considerable amount of time in total to put into a video. Friends who watch other types of vlogs one in particular likes to watch vlogs from a person who runs a crochet business from home that seems very successful and the vlog is pretty much the same format each week where it's about the orders the person receives, making those orders, posting them and this person has over 600k subscribers. They knock out sometimes 3 videos a week which is a huge commitment and they work nearly all the time. But because the former is more or less the same a lot of it probably can be done almost without thinking about it. With what you do it has to be more creative, planned, you have to think more about the elements that you are going to include in your video plus what you're going to say. I imagine it's quite the challenge and as you say KZbin is so hungry for content, it's never-ending . Another thing I see in some vlogs is they use it for accountability so if they want to do something it might just be organising shelves or a room, exercise, they will say in their vlog what they want to do and then the use of log to be accountable to themselves because obviously they've put it out there they're going to do something and they feel then obliged to prove it to their viewers. Do you think this would be useful for you maybe some short videos showing you've got your meditation in or a run, whatever it is that you have as a goal?
