Alot of surfers don't understand that competition has been at the heart of the sport since the time of the ancient Hawaiian kings. They used to hold surf contests in Hawaii hundreds of years ago and wager their lands and even their lives on the outcome of a surf contest. It was and remains very serious stuff. And it seems to be getting evey stronger. At the end of the day, no matter how you look at it, surfing is dangerous.
