Aw shucks Sheepish. This quest to figure this out took place over several years, and was worth the effort. You help me think so. Thanks for the very nice feedback and happy flipping wind-one! -Pat

This is an awesome video. Thank you so much .... I saw the "fast flip" 20 years ago on a spinning vid, but no instructions on how to do it. I have been spinning 20 years, but just became interested in quill spinning. As a "consumer" of spinning videos, I like the term quill for wheel spinning, and spindle for drop spindle spinning. Not a nit-pick, just a thought. Can you make more quill spinning vids - maybe another on the fast flip?

this is awesome! i made a quill for my ashford but struggled with the transition from inserting twist to winding. thank you!!!

how did you attach the quill?
@thegretnaexperiment2.0212 жыл бұрын
@@maggiepatterson7949 I used a dowel sharpened with a pencil sharpener roughly the same diameter as the standard orifice. I might have wound some tape on the end to make it snug.

Thanks for your nice comment Judit. I hope the video helped you spin with your quill. The fast wind-on makes it so much more efficient.

So you 45 angle is to the left of the spindle...i do it with the angle to the right. is the pull off done the same way?
@patriciamartinek43612 жыл бұрын
Hi Maggie - Yes my angle is on the left because I’m left-handed. I’m not sure about what you mean by pull off, but when I pull the cop off the spindle, I pull it straight out. Does that answer your question? Happy spindle spinning!

I made a spindle for my Schacht Ladybug years ago. This is a great video, especially showing the "flip". The only thing that I would change is the type of spindle that you are demonstrating on your Matchless. It's a ladybug on the spindle, but Schacht makes a Ladybug wheel. A little confusing right at the beginning. This is nitpicking so feel free to delete this comment. ;)

Dear Karla: Thanks so much for taking time to give me feedback on the video. It is my first KZbin video. I was wondering what you meant by recommending a different spindle, and what you would use instead. I know I kept confusing the words "quill" and "spindle", and I know it might be confusing that the spindle I used on the Matchless had a little ladybug for the disk. The same spindle would work on a Schacht Ladybug wheel, too, but might seem confusing that it is a ladybug on the Matchless? I appreciate your thoughts and feedback.

Patricia Martinek I would change the quill that you are using for the demo. Instead of using a Ladybug quill, use one of your others. Like I said...I'm being picky. My first thought was that they could only be used on a Schacht Ladybug wheel. Never mind me, I'm probably just over thinking it.
