Can u talk more about the water...is it warm or cold water....salt or fresh? This fascinated me.

Hi Robin.I use fresh water buy I have heard of people adding salt to the water. The water is just room temp.

Thanks, but it has little in commen with the originals. Never stiched through the hide.

All The other stitches are not through the hide. Just the edge. I learned from all the books that teach it. Are you a quillworker ?

I just spoke with a friend of mine who has been invited to many museums throughout the world to view original Quillwork and has seen many many examples. He viewed both techniques of sewing through the hide and just picking up a bit of the hide. I’m sorry but the originals you have to look at are only a few of the original pieces but as I stated both techniques were used in the 18 th century.
