I'm looking forward to trying this. I wish that you would have shown the machine screen as you were moving the camera around, though. I'm a very visual person and would like to be able to see both the screen for the buttons and what is happening on the hoop as I try it the first time. Otherwise this is the best video I've seen. The screen is in focus and not 3 feet away or even a foot away as many are in other videos. Thanks so much!

I have a very long runner I'm trying to finish. Before I scanned it asked me to apply a snowman. Why? I have a solaris 2 upgraded to a vision. I thought it would scan like yours did. Great directions by the way. I have one more question.

My section is only 5.5 inches by 30 in my table runne. I'm trying to quilt. This is my first quilt project on my new machine. I'm using the large hoop and trying to quilt the center. I hope it helps me line it up after I quilt the first half following your great directions. I am assuming I rehoop and scan again, and it will see the stitching and help me line up. I only have the 10x10 magnetic hoop. The edge to edge wouldn't work with that small area... unless I am missing something... which is very possible.

Hi Sandra you are correct stitch your first section then rehoop (which is really easy with the magnetic hoop you don't even have to take it out of the machine) then rescan and the background image will appear on your screen then use your camera to line up your stitching. Love this machine

@amongbrendasquiltsbags5408 I tried to use my magnetic hoop, and it's 10x10. When I tried to input 5.5 it wouldn't take it.

Hi Amanda, I was trying to use the magnetic hoop with edge to edge quilting, but it seems that's for larger quilts because the smallest size I found was 7.87". So, I am going to try your method. I already have it hooped...and scanned. It required the snowman sticker before it would scan. I'm not sure why, but i just added it and it scanned. I am having trouble staying steady when I try to trace the outsides of my design. I know I can erase it, but it's a lot. So I tried a ruler on the screen that went beyond the screen so I would add pressure. That helped a little. I left the bottom open because I will need to rehoop. I hope that's okay. Then I pray it will rescan and know where to line it up. I left a message a few days ago.

@kofoedsandy well, that didn't go well. My potential gift (first quilt project ever with my new machine) was going well piecing work wise, but after my first experience with quilting in IQ, it has now turned into an expensive sample of my trial and error. So sad. I should have known it wouldn't go well the first time. It just seemed so easy. 😢 I don't know if I can save this. The first hooping turned out ok... but my lines were a little off on the sides of the middle section of the runner. I guess i can accept that. I thought I could salvage it by maybe sewing bias strips down those two sides to cover up the boo-boo, but my other issue I forgot to turn off the triple stitch before it quilted.... and, after the next scan, because I had to move the design up with the projector to make it line up with the last quilting section, the machine didn't sew the whole design I scanned... and when it did, it stitched triple over previous triple. At least I got it to line up.... but wrong because i lost stitches at the bottom... to finish my quilting. I'm afraid to scan it one more time for the last section. I always have to move it up for it to line up... and then the bottom part moves up, I have to scan again. I know I'm missing something. You are the best teacher I have found so far. I subscribed. I have for the love of sewing, but the only quilting runner they have instruction is in a very different machine.
