Often you don't have to update the machine. You can always talk to your local Janome dealer and see if they can help you with updates.

I have not been able to duplicate this stitching on my M7. My function menu screen is different. Could it be a different version???? Mine is version 1.02.

Diane P are you referring to the serpentine stitch on the sashing on these quilt as you go blocks? Or the Manual dual feed function on the new function icon? The latest/current version for the M7 is v 1.11. So it would seem that you have not updated your machine. Go to the Janome Global website and carefully follow the instructions for downloading version 1.11. You should also ask your dealer for assistance if you wish. Not sure where you live but ALL our dealers in Canada attended Training on this machine before they were authorized to sell it so all of them should know about this update. And they will also be able to assist you about how to do the update if you are not sure. Janome Canada Education

You need to update your machine. I think she has version 1.11
