He's sung Schaunard in BOHEME at the Met (hardly a big role, of course) and is singing Marcello this season. But nothing else in Verdi. His voice is indeed wonderful -- a freely flowing sound with both dark and bright hues. Of past baritones the one he reminds me most of is Cornell MacNeil.

I can't get enough of Quinn Kelsey's voice. True, he's never sung a major role at the Met, but he sings nearly everywhere else, to great reviews. By the way, get a load of those two clowns below, Bodolito and AfroPoli, always bewailing the fate of modern singing, hearing "flaws" that aren't there, and longing for a Golden Age that never was. Too bad we can't send them back to the 1910's and leave them there.

En totes les epoques hi ha hagut bons cantants, potser que en alguns anys més que d'altres, no critico a ningu.Tothom (sobre tot els cantants) que pujan a un escenari i presenten el seu art, es digna d'admiració.I si a vegades es pot fer alguna critica, sempre ha de ser constructiva mai s'ha de tirar per terra a ningu.

Abdrazakov non è poi così male, sempre un po' incompleto, ma per gli standard attuali è buono. Il baritono, che poi baritono non è, è disastroso, più per tecnica e stile che per voce (sembra Louis Quilico in fine carriera e in una serata no)

Both are middle of the road. Neither good nor bad, just adequate. The bass simply does not have the vocal resources for this role.

Kelsey's voice does not project in a big house. This performance is, of course, mic'd.. I saw him as Paulo in Boccanegra. It was hard to hear him.

Awful? Wow! Clean out those ears, he possesses one of the most beautiful sounds of our generation. What a gift and a treasure! And who cares what he looks like... He is a real artist and his musicality makes up for anything. He can wear a paper bag and I would take that voice over any baritone singing these days!
