I'm a cashier and have been checking rolls of pennies I put into my drawer for over 9 months and I've found so many wheat pennies over that period of time! I open about four rolls of pennies for my drawer every day I work. For the past 2 months though I didn't find any wheats at all. But recently within the last week, I've been finding SO many wheats! Every roll I open now has about 5 wheat pennies in them! I'm not kidding! I used to be lucky if I could find one or two in a roll out of all four rolls I open. Now I'm finding 4 to 6 in each one! Though they've all been 1944, 45, 46, and 1955, 56, 57, and 58's, they're wheats so I take them anyway. If you're not or haven't already, I'd recommend becoming a cashier. You get to look through penny rolls for free they give you for your drawer. Also, because most people leave pennies behind they don't want when they take their change, that means your drawer will be over a little from all those pennies. So if you see a wheat, you can just take it without worrying that your drawer is short. I know those extra pennies are supposed to be for customers who need a couple cents, but I very rarely have a customer that is short a couple pennies so I don't have to worry about that. We don't have a penny jar anyway so..

I was a cashier at a grocery store for about a month and I did the same thing! It keeps things interesting on the job haha. I did get yelled at a couple times for opening too many rolls of coins. Oops...
@lucindathefaithful7599
@lucindathefaithful7599 7 жыл бұрын
Haha did you have access to the coin rolls or something? How would you open too many? I only get two penny rolls at a time and someone has to get them out of the safe for me. I usually need to open all the rolls I get throughout the day because when you're giving change for about seven hours, pennies go fast. That's why I get to open about four a day. If I don't need pennies, I cant open the roll or I would get yelled at too.

I recently found a few 2009 USA pennies and I’m keeping them. Also bought some Canada quarters and found 5 dollars of USA quarters in one roll. Bonus. Have some wheat pennies I collected over the years. Some are worth a few dollars. What do you do with your wheat pennies. You get pretty excited about finding Wheats.

The other day I was randomly looking through my pennies and I currently live in Jacksonville, Florida and I came across a Canadian Penny (never seen one before) and it was out of probably 75-80 pennies because I was able to fill one roll but not enough for two and it was from my change drawer and I’m glad I looked and saw something out of the ordinary

Hey Quin great channel. Here's a tip. Don't return your zinc coins to the same bank you got them. If they rebox counsel themselves you might wind up just getting yours back. I have family members who use 3 different banks. I send them to get me boxes and I try to return them to the same bank and not get boxes from them.

@QuinsCoins
@QuinsCoins 7 жыл бұрын
I actually save them all. Since Canada got rid of their pennies in 2012, there are now collectors out there that are willing to pay above face value. In addition, 1996 and older are copper which I save from the US cents anyway.

Ive been finding lots of Canadians out here in Connecticut. I just started crh maybe a month ago. I have 300+ wheats. 1910 and up ( haven’t FOUND a 1909 yet) tho I do have two 1909. One vdb I’ve found maybe 3 or 4 hundred Canadian pennies. Only ONE bird cent centenial. But it’s MINT. prob ms 65 66. I just found a nice 1938 Canadian today. To go with my 1945. My 2 1950s. 51 52. 57 58. Your videos are great btw. Keep up the good work. And thanks for making coin roll hunting fun. I DO have a question. I find LOTS of foreign coins. Is there a known Canadian and/or world coin value book?
@EdTube444

I'm a numbers guy. Here are some numbers. Zinc penny 2.5grams. Brass pennies 3.1grams. Do the math. Wrappers weigh .9 grams. So a roll of zinc pennies would be 126 grams a roll of brass pennies about 156 grams. And just like silver coins when you are buying them you have account for wear. So for fun I will take a roll of pennies and put them on a sensitive gram scale. Subtract 1 gram for the wrapper and subtract 126 for zinc pennies and divide the remainder by .5 and tell within a penny or 2 how many coppers to expect.

Thanks! It depends on where I am in the state. When I'm at school, I have two locations that I alternate between and a single dump bank that has a coin counter. When I'm elsewhere, I just call ahead at a bunch of different banks and I take what I can get. Then, I bring the coins back to school and bring them to the same dump bank.

I couldn't help but notice you pretty much just blew by the 2009 Lincoln "Formative" years penny without mentioning that, that particular penny almost always comes with an error worth plenty of money. The error often lies between the thumb and forefinger, and is in fact a second 'Thumb" printed between the two. I'm not sure how much the error is worth, however, I am certain it's worth the time you'd invest should you decide to find out. In any event partner, happy coin roll hunting.

Just decided to open a penny role I've literally had since I was a teenager - 30+ years...nice clear plastic role (haven't seen any of those anywhere else). Every penny in the roll is a 1959 with no mint mark. Very clean, clear-relief....I'd almost say 'uncirculated' but a couple have slight scratches on the face (maybe just from other coins) and one has an actual finger-print on the face (very slight, but you see it and tell it's a finger-print. The coins look like brand-new pennies.. I put them back in the clear plastic tube they were in. Think they're worth anything?

Those are AMAZING results for dimes! I'm not much of a dime hunter but I've done it a couple times. Good luck on your next hunt!

I've done one box and found one silver dime.... lol. Dimes are such a hassle to search for a guy like me with bad eyes.

Mikee Vee Well I should disclose that they were all costumer wrapped rolls. But yes. Normally I don't find stuff in dimes

Jeffrey Davis i have never had customer wrapped rolls, but my credit union also doesn't accept rolled coins due to having a coin sorter. I'm thinking of joining a smaller bank to buy from so I can take the junk to the credit union.
