Quint & Nola - The Birth of AJ (part 1)

I always loved Nola and all her fantasies. This was a real fun time. I wish some of today's soaps were more like this.

This is by far my favourite story.Watching Quinton pass out from hyperventilating in the delivery room was funny,and then the moment of truth when his son is born,thelook on Quinton's face was - priceless. Nola's Wizard of Oz fantasy was too cute, Can't wait for the name the baby revelation.

@thia912002 It wasn't that I disliked the name Anthony or James, I just thought that the baby should have been named after the father or grandfather instead of two brothers, one (Jim) who had only recently surfaced. I guess I was thinking that Sean (okay, I'm prejudiced on the name, even at that time), fit the baby better what with them both being of Irish descent. I dislike initials as nicknames altogether though. No offense if any of you go by initials.

@rcb1952oct That's a good observation and a good thought as well. I never really understood why they just didn't name the baby after Quinton's real birth name and then call him Sean Ryan Chamberlain II. It would have sounded better,and growing up he wouls have never than gone by "J" after all that.

@bsheffer1 You just had me chuckling there,for a moment.Thank-you. I was never crazy about them naming the baby Quinton,jr.,just sounded too stuffy.Quinton was anything but stuffy and he suggested them naming the baby Sean Ryan not Junior. I wish now the choices would have been Anthony James,Sean Ryan or Thomas Henry. Then we would have really been in a tie at the end between Sean or Anthony James. Your right,again-Reinfeld sounded too ominous and monster movie for me.

Well I remember voting for Anthony James. Sean Ryan wasn't even a choice to vote for and I would have prefered that name. Quinton Jr would have been okay but as much as I love Quinton I am not to crazy about the name. Some of the name suggested really were horrendous. I mean Fergus blech! And Renfield sounds like the name of the hunchbacked assistant in the Frankenstein movies. Yes Sean Ryan would have been the best. I love the Wizard of Oz fantasy. @sneezyize I ought to tell my daughter you like the name she gave her baby. We are of mainly Irish descent so I thought it was a very appropriate name for him. That's why I thought Sean Ryan would have been the perfect name for two people of Irish descent. But, nobody asked me back then so what do you do.

@rcb1952oct i also think it was something stupid maybe Pam Long Hammer came up with to look good for the producers.the baby name that was finally chosen was just a reversal of the name Lisa And Tom had already named their son.if that one had not been mentioned in the contest,who knows what they would have named him.

@rcb1952oct You never liked Anthony James Chamberlain?! I thought it was a lot better than Thomas Henry or Henry Thomas or even Fergis(blech). But I always thought they could have names the baby Sean Ryan after Quinton's birth name and have just referred to him as Sean Chamberlain II. It would have been okay for the show.

@thia912002 I think they originally planned to name the baby Thomas Henry but then had a "brainstorm" and decided to have the naming contest. It doesn't make sense that a. they hadn't picked out a name before the baby was born b. and since, they had repeatedly said they would name it after the grandfathers, why act as if they had no name picked out. I think it was a ratings gimmick.

@sneezyize You are so right. Even I would have loved that better than Quinton,Jr.,by far. Good idea! Why couldn't some one have come up with that thought instead of Quinton,Jr. I would have called up 50 times for Sean Patrick if that name had been offered,and probably would have been grounded back in my senior year of high school for that.But I wouldn't have cared,just to help name the baby-was worth it.

I love Quint as the Scarecrow. It is so out of character for him. Quinton was nowheres close to being brainless and goofy. But it seemed like he really got into the character LOL

@rcb1952oct i wonder what Quint and Nola would have named the baby should it have been a girl? They never ever indicated what they would have called the baby should it have been a girl. I saw the interview clip,but i still keep wondering,should the producers and headwriter have gone the other direction.

I always thought that if Quinton and Nola had a girl her name should be Heather. As far as the other boy names, I did always kind of like the idea of Quinton Jr. But I did always like Sean Ryan too.

@sneezyize Yeah,true.But the weird thing is they kept saying for the whole pregnancy they were going to name the baby if it was a boy- Thomas Henry.Then the baby is born and they changed their minds. I voted for Anthony James,sorry. And what a beautiful son they have.

Of all of Nola's fantasies, this is my favorite. Everyone was so funny in it, and so out of character. And, I love the name Sean (my newborn grandson's name is Sean Patrick) - I think I voted for the name Sean, not 100% sure. I remember it cost me all of 50 cents to call in my vote. I disliked the name the baby ended up with and really disliked AJ.
