The most baffling thing to me is that you can be fired or quit just like that... where I live, unless you're in a three-month probationary period, you either have to come to an agreement with your employer or there's by law a two-month notice period. The only other option is when you or your employer would *seriously* break the rules you agreed to when signing a contract and you or your employer could prove it. Then you can quit on the spot.
