Bugs in Maine? Who'd a thunk it? 🤣 Loved the wildlife and the smokehouse in Lubec. Great job as always, you two.

Thanks, Marc. The “bug hike” was actually the worst the whole time we were there. Always appreciate your praise because your footage is some of the best 🤗 Alice

Brendan & Lena, we were also on our way to Nova Scotia when we were in Maine 😃. It was such an amazing summer trip. I think a pirate invasion would be fun 😁 Alice

So I'm thinking the bug and fly problem might be a Grimm situation rather than an animal lying at French Creek. Lol! This place looked great.

Oh, so much to do. We loved Maine and Acadia National Park. We went to Acadia on the way to Canada and then on way back to Florida. We still need to put that video and blog post together. For this video, we have more info and links in the accompanying blog post Alice

@@DownsizingMakesCents Thanks so much! Scott from Bikes Boats and Bivouacs mentioned you folks had gone into Canada. We were really hoping to make it there last summer, particularly when we were at Glacier and then again at Sault Ste.Marie, but alas we couldn’t make it work.

Did Scrappy like the hikes you went on? Thank you for the views of the lighthouses and the history., I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

William, Maine is beautiful but that one trail was horrible with flies. Maybe we will go another time when it’s a bit cooler. Larry wouldn’t push me - who would do the dishes 🤣 Alice

Wanted to wish y'all a Merry Christmas. I've watch your channel for a while now. I really enjoy and appreciate the diy stuff too. Wanted to ask if y'all had to do it over again, would you buy the solitude fifth wheel again? I've been looking, and I'm just not sure yet. And wanted your opinion. Thank you and keep filming. Safe travels.
@DownsizingMakesCents2 жыл бұрын
Hey Donita, that is a really good question. All in all I would still buy another Solitude, but i wish they offered a 30 foot version, i think that would be the perfect length for us. They offer a 30 foot but it is and S-Class and not as well built. For full timing you really need the best build quality you can find/afford. If i had the money i would buy a DRV mobile suite or a redwood but they are BIG bucks. Solitude was the right price/quality point for us. We paid 50K for a 2 year old used solitude in 2019. We did buy a new truck which cost $60K, and that was a good decision for us, not having to worry about the truck for a couple of years at least. If you have the budget for a $150k plus fifth wheel there are much higher quality options. to answer your question, i would buy the solitude again today, grand design customer service has been very good, we have had a few failures but not nearly as many as other rv brands. I will let Alice answer this because I’m sure she will have a different opinion. Larry Donita, unfortunately there isn’t an RV built for full time travel. If I had to get what is on the market, I would get smaller. Yes-downsize. Ours is the tallest and widest legally allowed that does give us space inside. But it makes it hard to maneuver- not that Larry would say that. I have stress on move days because it is so tall and wide. Also, I’d rather have a 29’ - more campsites available, especially in Canada. I also would rather have a travel trailer because of the height issue, but again Larry says they aren’t built as well and they aren’t as safe to tow. We might be going to the Tampa Show for the Industry day- I hear there might be a new smaller Solitude? I don’t know if i helped or made it worse. Sorry. And good luck - take your time to pick the right one, Alice
