In this video I look at Edmund's second, sinister soliloquy (sibilance!) from Act I, sc(ii), a brilliant quote that offers insights into his character, as well as corruption, imagery and the dramatic structure of the play (it creates anticipation for what is to come...) I also take a look at that powerful and thought-provoking final stanza of Boland's 'The Famine Road', in which she draws together the past and the present, connecting the abuse of the vulnerable by powerful in the 1840s and in contemporary society.
