Religion and Science are two very important factors in human affairs and motivations - whether in conflict or in conciliation? Down the ages, false religiosity has been at logger heads with scientific understanding, advancement and truthful reasoning. Most religious scriptures have been assessed by scientists as conflicting with many places of the Scriptures with context to scientific facts. You may ask, is the Holy Qur'an too in conflict with modern science? This needs to be objectively and knowledgeably analyzed. Does the Qur'anic wisdom agree totally with modern scientific understanding? To logically and scientifically cross examine this in open public, the Islamic Research Foundation is holding this programme and lecture talk on 'Qur'an and Modern Science - Conflict or Conciliation?' by Dr Zakir Naik.

usefulness of honey has been described in ayurveda which is much older than quran. greek medicine also described it. so the advantages of honey and it's medicinal properties cannot be attributed to quraan

and the science behind bird migration is: Migratory birds may use two electromagnetic tools to find their destinations: one that is entirely innate and another that relies on experience. A young bird on its first migration flies in the correct direction according to the Earth's magnetic field, but does not know how far the journey will be. It does this through a radical pair mechanism whereby chemical reactions in special photo pigments sensitive to long wavelengths are affected by the field. Although this only works during daylight hours, it does not use the position of the sun in any way. At this stage the bird is in the position of a boy scout with a compass but no map, until it grows accustomed to the journey and can put its other capabilities to use. With experience it learns various landmarks and this "mapping" is done by magnetites in the trigeminal system, which tell the bird how strong the field is. Because birds migrate between northern and southern regions, the magnetic field strengths at different latitudes let it interpret the radical pair mechanism more accurately and let it know when it has reached its destination.[62] There is a neural connection between the eye and "Cluster N", the part of the forebrain that is active during migrational orientation, suggesting that birds may actually be able to see the magnetic field of the earth.[63][64]

The speaker alludes to one of the most astounding scientific fact from the Quorun, regarding birds flight in mid-air. Here it is, ' Do they not look at the birds, held poised in the midst of (the air and) the sky? Nothing holds them up but (the power of) Allah. Verily in this are signs for those who believe' Qur'an 16:79. So it is the Power of Allah ALONE that holds the bird up in the mid-air against the force of gravity. No other external force, or power is involved, except the Power of Allah(alone). Modern science fails to explain how a bird is held up in mid-air. They try to explain by saying it is the difference in air pressure between the upper and lower parts of the wing, that creates the upwards thrust. But this only a theory, not a scientific fact. Now feed that bird with a piece of Bacon. Will the Sky God hold it? Or will the bird come crashing down?
