Awesome answer! As a Christian I can say this is a fair and balanced opinion. During Ramadan, I will wish Ramadan Mubarak to close friends, not that I believe in the celebration, but to stand in solidarity. Christmas does celebrate the birth of Christ, but many do not celebrate it as a religious celebration, but rather use it as a time for family and fellowship. God gave us our families and this is a time of demonstrating love to others just as God has demonstrated his love towards us.

celebrating with them doesn’t mean you’ll start adhering to that faith. It’s the season to be happy, have hopes, and give. Something even islam preaches! No need to follow the parts (lets say alcohol/ pork dishes) that’s unislamic and just go with the flow. No harm in socializing and coexisting, Allah most definitely did not discourage that. As long as you’re steadfast in your own faith , nothing can shake you!😊

I am a non-practising Muslim man, formerly from a secular background, married to a wonderful Muslim lady and your advice is golden to me and my wife. We are continuing to navigate the occasional obstacles, challenges and opportunities for enlightenment of our differing traditions and this channel, alongside Cambridge Muslim College UK, is our touchstone for most issues in this and other regards. This was very interesting. I'm an atheist that comes from a Christian family and I do celebrate Christmas with them, so I think a Muslim would find it even less objectionable since they believe in Jesus and that he was a prophet. I think the only religious thing that happens while celebrating Christmas with my family is that my parents have a nativity scene at the bottom of their Christmas tree. I don't think a Muslim would find that objectionable, but it's not something I would put up myself in my own home. I did set up a tree in my house with lights, though I do create a winter theme with it instead of a religious one. I also keep it up all winter so it's more of a celebration of the season rather than a celebration of the birth of Jesus for me. It's customary to put an angel on top, but my tree topper is a snowflake and the lights are all white.

We don’t believe he was born during that season or Christmas. Even if so, we don’t (or must not) celebrate their birthdays. This man is good for debate but not for religious fiqh as we call it (the questions deep in religion). He is more liberalized and westernized and is not exactly explaining stuff from an Islamic perspective.

The British museum shows the Ancient Pagan Syrians from present day Homs used to worship a Black Stone that represented their Sun god El Gabal or "Ilah al-Jabal" or Baal. The Black Stone was placed in their cube temple in Homs. It was taken to Rome in the 3rd century as depicted on Roman coins and later returned to the Syrians Pagans in Homs. The fate of the Black Stone beyond the 4th century is unknown. The popular academic opinion is that it would have been used for continued worship at another Pagan Baal Temple somewhere in Arabia.

Shabir, many Christians in the US and Canada are not just Christians in name only but are Evangelical Christians. This means that very likely they attend a Christmas Eve service together, and spend Christmas Day reading the Gospel of Luke pertaining to the birth of Jesus, join together singing Christmas carols which praise and worship Jesus, eat dinner together, and open small Christmas presents to each other as a family. More and more believing Christians are Evangelicals who are taking it seriously to put Jesus Christ back in Christmas-- and therefore have kicked out all the hollow, irreligious, secular stuff. As a Christian, there may be muslim family members expecting a Santa- focused holiday who will be in for a big surprise. Just wanted to alert you to this wonderful Christmas change occurring in many Christian homes.
@LOFIGSD
@LOFIGSD 2 жыл бұрын
I wish many Liberal fanatics who are anti Christmas would listen to Dr Shabir, they wont even use the word Christmas, in communications, referring to it as Winter Holidays etc, if they can dilute Christian traditions, they will dilute and eliminate ALL Religions. The message of Christmas seems to have been lost anyway, now it has become a tacky commercial event, instead of Peace and Goodwill to all of mankind, the religious part of it is long gone. I can understand if a devout Muslim would not want to sit at a Christmas Dinner table if alcohol and pork were served, but tbh, that is more cultural than anything to do with Christmas. Good video, Peace to you and your Daughter.

@@alexojideagu Just to be clear, I'm a Christian myself. Here's what I understand based on the ayah below and tafsir Ibn Kathir of the same. Quran 5:51 O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. A Muslim can wish me merry Christmas, but he's not supposed to truly mean it. It shouldn't come from his heart, otherwise he has joined himself with me in my "shirk". So when a Muslim says merry Christmas to me, according to Islam, he really isn't wishing me a merry Christmas at all. This is one tough religion.

This was the original message that christmas was celebrated over. Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Luke 1:26-35 You see the Angel came to her in the sixth month of the year and she conceived and was pregnant for nine months and gave birth, so in the sixth month ( being June) she would conceive and being pregnant for nine months would bring you round to march time which is when lambs are born and that's why Jesus is called the Lamb of God . He wasnt born at Christmas time , he was born around march time .

I am a Muslim revert raised in Christianity. The Old Testament talks about the green tree and it’s link to paganism. Even when I was a Christian, I was disturbed to see the Christmas tree in the church. Also, people of the book in those times was a monotheistic faith, along side of the Jews though there were some trinitarists. The original English copy of the king’s James version of the Bible was in 1611. How could there have been a complete book when the Quranic text was revealed. So, to marry a polytheistic Christian lady seems conflicting. Just a thought.

@@theguyver4934 I would say none of the above. I did a little comparative studying and after reading and studying the English translation of the Quran, I felted touched and moved in a way I didn’t get from the Bible. And the fact that there is so much recorded information on the Prophet and his companions, it doesn’t leave much room for guessing. Everything for the most part is broken down in details on how one should live their lives, raising a family, and to fiqh. So no, my decision was never about hate or to belittle.I know what that previous life was like and I whole heartedly believe that Islam is The Truth.

Yeah I personally don't believe that that was a clear enough or good enough answer for a western person who has accepted a slam and steal affiliates or lives with family members who are not Muslim we as Muslims our identity is very important so much important that when you see a Muslim you know a Muslim when you see a Christian you may not know it's a Christian but for Muslims our identity is important it is very important because that is one of the fundamental backbones that you have to crack in order to separate somebody from who that person is slave masters separated the slaves former identity so that that slave would be bound to the slave owner so the Western culture we already know it's a long lecture about the Western culture and how the Western culture treats and sees everyone else I love doctor shabir I don't think he's a bad person I've had people say that he helps people deviate away from the Sunnah I don't believe that but I just personally don't believe that that was a good enough or clear enough answer

Interesting, so you know the mind of God, who created ALL peoples, and by definition their cultures and traditions, and sent Prophets, many known and unknown. If you want people to understand Islam then maybe being a closed book is not the way to go, Dr Shabir clearly understands this, if you have a different opinion, respectfully differ

This is like the third video ive seen of him spreading this false information. He is advising muslims to compromise their religion and satisfy the kuffars as apposed to satisfying Allah. May Allah guide him and all of us. I pray people dont take the approach he is giving.
