2. Surah al-Baqara / سورة البقرة / Surah al-Baqarah
"Cow" Surah, 286 verses,
It was revealed in Medina.
Virtue of Al-Baqara Surah
Ibn Abbas (may God be pleased with him) said: "One day when Gabriel was sitting next to the Prophet - may God's blessings and peace be upon him and his family - the Prophet heard a sound similar to the sound of a door from above and raised his head. Gabriel said: This is a gate in the sky. It opened today. It has never been opened before, only opened today. At that time, an angel descended from there. Gabriel said: “This is an angel who has come down to earth. It has never come down to earth." The angel greeted and said: "Good news to you with the two lights that have been given to you!" These two lights were not given to any prophet before you. This is the last verses of Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Al-Baqarah. You will be rewarded for every letter you read from them." (Muslim, 1913).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family) said: "Read the Quran! Indeed, the Qur'an will come as an intercessor for those who read it on the Day of Judgment. Read the "Zahravaini" (two flowers) i.e. "al-Baqara" and "Ali Imran" surahs! Indeed, these two surahs will come and protect their readers on the Day of Judgment like two clouds or two shadows or two flocks of birds with their wings spread in the sky. Read Surah Al-Baqarah! Indeed, reading it is a blessing and leaving it is a regret. "Magicians don't have the power." (Muslim, 1337).
In another hadith, he says: "Recite Surah Al-Baqara in your homes!" There is no doubt that the devil will not enter a house where Surah al-Baqara is recited. (al-Hakim, 2062).
The virtue of Kursi verse
Ayatul-Kursi (Verse of the Chair) is the 255th verse of Surah al-Baqara. This verse is the most glorious verse of the Holy Quran. Muhammad ibn Ubayy ibn Kab narrates from his father that his father had a warehouse of dates. Dates were decreasing from this warehouse. One night, while he was guarding the barn, he saw a beast that looked like a full-grown boy. Ubayy ibn Kab greeted, and he received the greeting. Ubayy ibn Kab asked: "Are you a jinn or a human?" He said: "I am a demon." Ubayy ibn Kab said: "Give me your hand!" When he stretched out his hand, he saw that his hand was a dog's hand and his hair was also dog hair. The jinn said, “This is the creation of the jinn. The demons know that there is no man stronger than me. Ubayy ibn Kab said: "What brought you here?" The Jinn said: "We have heard that you like to give alms, so we have come to harm your sustenance." Ubayy ibn Kab said: "What will protect us from you?" Jinn said: This verse in Surah al-Baqara - "Allah, there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, the Ever-Living, the Guardian of all His creations" (al-Baqara, 255). Whoever recites it in the evening will be protected from us until dawn. Whoever reads it in the morning will be protected from us until the evening." When morning dawned, he came to the Prophet and told him what had happened. The Prophet said: "Khabis spoke the truth." (Al-Tabarani "Mujamul-Kabir" 541).
Also, Ubayy ibn Kab narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O Abu Munzir! Do you know which verse from the Book of God that you have memorized is more glorious?" I replied: "Allah and His Messenger know better!" He said: "O Abu Munzir! Do you know which verse from the Book of God that you have memorized is more glorious?" I replied: "Allah, there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, the Ever-Living, the Guardian of all His creations" (al-Baqara, 255). The Prophet hit my chest and said: "By God, science has been successful for you, O Abu Munzir!" (Muslim, 1921).
In another hadith, it says: "Whoever recites the Kursu verse (al-Baqara, 255) after every obligatory prayer, only death stands between him and Paradise." (Al-Nasa'i, 9928). That is, if that person dies, he will enter Paradise on the Day of Judgment because of this verse
