Interesting to see the Coldstreams in battle dress but the RAF in No.2 dress.

at that time, RAF regiment was just formed and there is no battledress for the RAF. Only Army infantry had battledress as infantry is the main group who fought in the ground but not air force. So when RAF regiment was formed, quick design for the RAF regiment needed their own battledress.

Modern regiments do not compare to those back in WW2, even though they are volunteers rather than conscripts. The 1940s men look, leaner, fitter and smarter than the ones we see today. I would expect that they could outmarch and outfight those we have today, alas.
