It's honestly so cute how language shy Suga is. He probably understand the majority of what is being said to him in English and Japanese but he doesn't feel confident in his ability to produce coherent phrases and sentences so he doesn't. He such a perfectionist. But you can often see that he fully understands what's going on around him even when people aren't speaking Korean. He's a really intelligent guy.

His pronunciation is really good and even makes jokes! I love to see Hobi taking an interview in japanese TV show. The comments you made about them individually are so on point. I think it was Hobi who said that Namjoon seems to have the formula down for learning new languages, as soon as he understands the rules he's pretty much good to go. Jimin and Hobi are very good listeners and Jimin is a reader, so it would make sense that they would absorb things quickly like that. Taehyung mimics really well. Jungkook being excellent and non-committal. Jin being great at everything but the basics and Suga knowing a bunch of random bs. It's so them.

Thank you for doing this. I’ve seen short clips of them speaking Japanese and had impression they were fairly fluent, so it’s nice to have that confirmed. It hugely impresses me that they have made the effort of learning at least two foreign languages, each of which has a different writing system from their own. It’s hard enough speaking a foreign language in private conversation, but doing so in front of thousands at a concert, or millions on line, must be very stressful.

Thank you so much for a fascinating video. I totally enjoyed it. I am an English speaker from the US. I have been studying Manderin Chinese during the pandamic. However, I am not that good at pronunciations. First... thank you so much for helping us all navigate BTS's journey in Japan. I am totally impressed by you and BTS. To speak other languages has been a distant dream for me. However, I have only given myself opportunity now. (I am 66 year old grandma.) To view this video as BTS learns and uses your original language is truly wonderful. Japanese, Korean and English all used with subtitles... while teaching us about their Korean accents, anime, slang, and higher uses of Japanese....facinating. Plus, Nam-joon is amazing... another example how brilliant he is. Same with Ho-seok. Tae-hyung jumping in interpreting for Yoon-gi is amazing. This video inspires me to carry on with my language studies. Thank you so much... Sugarmyy! Thank you BTS 7! Thank you ARMY!

I'm seriously impressed by the guys' language acquisition skills. I watched that clip where Tae and Jimin were practicing dialects, and it was HILARIOUS. It's a sign of how much they love ARMY, too-- one of the best ways to demonstrate your love and respect for someone is to learn their language, because it shows that you're making an effort to understand them where *they* live. (I'm working on it. And in the meantime, I'm weepingly grateful for our incredible ARMY translators.) This is also why I get so mad at people who yell at the guys to "talk English." As far as fluency goes (not from my specific knowledge of Japanese, but of language acquisition), from what you shared here, I'd tend to rate Hobi a little higher *because* he uses more colloquialisms and native phrasing (and does it correctly). That's the kind of learning that only comes from immersion, and is generally regarded as a sign of more advanced fluency in a language. And I totally see what you mean about TaeTae's anime-flavored Japanese, because that's where a lot of mine comes from. 🤣(I understand a bit, but nowhere near to the level of carrying on an extended conversation.)
