First story - so unjust! That teacher is the worst sort of scumbag. The worst he faced was embarrassment at people finding out what he ordered (and I can understand him fearing his student might tell her friends/his other students) but to actively lie and accuse her of attempted solicitation.. he deserves to be known as the sort of teacher who would do that, so all his other students can make damned sure never to meet with him without a witness.

While it is possible thats the case its also very possible that he could potentially face some seriously major problems from what happened. Even if we 100% take only OP's word of what went down some states have laws against that sort of thing. I personally know a former professor that had a simmilar thing happen to them. They hired a stripper for a bachelors party, that was suppose to screen for any work/school connections, anyway stripper that showed up was 1 of his students and he had turned her away and got a diffrent stripper for the event. Later she approached him to ask why he turned her away saying she really needed as many jobs as she could get etc. He tried telling her it was not appropriate and even went and reported what had happened to the school. He had records of all the interactions and texts etc probing he turned her away, but not only did he lose his job her faimily went after him to legally register him as a sex offender because he was in a position of athoriety over her. Lucky he had enough evidence to avoid any jail time and sex offender lists but was still a major deal that black listed him from teaching. One of his lawyers even said the biggest issue was that he didnt immediately report her for " sexual harassment" because she tried to talk to him about it after the fact on their own instead of informing thw school right away. So the school takes that as inappropriate behavior on the teachers behalf since they are in the position of responsibility over the student. Yes even as adult students this was and is an issue in certain states. Not saying the guy lying about it was ok or anything but some places thats litterly what they want you to do in order to keep your job.

Actually kids are better to kick than adults. The fact that they have less mass means that it takes proportionally more force to crack bone, vs. simply propel them. So basically a horse kicking a kid, the kid will probably be launched, might have a couple fractures, but is probably OK. An adult getting kicked, the inertia required to accelerate them from a stationary point is so great, odds are the kick is going to destroy bone and tissue, vs. simply move the body. So yeah. Let the kid get kicked. It might lose some teeth or something, but it'll be fine. An adult, he or she would probably suffer serious injury.

My heart breaks for the little girl in the 2. story: Imagine having that done to you at age 4: A person you loved and trusted, and of whom you thought they loved you as much, casts you aside like that, for no apparent reason. -Even if she doesn't grasp the full circumstances yet, this has the potential to stay a traumatic memory. What's even worse - as she grows up, she is gonna eventually learn the true story why they don't have contact with her aunt; I can't imagine any other outcome than: scarring. This made me extremely upset. I work at a barn where I help give lessons to kids with challenges. If anything ever happened to our boys I'd cry. We had to put one down earlier this year for ethical reasons (severe arthritis) and you could feel the pain exuding from all of us for weeks. We've had three retire and go to different homes to enjoy their last five to ten years. It's always stressful to see someone limping... if we came in to that sort of chaos I guarantee you the culprit would be unwelcome in the entire county until the end of time.

First Story: This is an interesting story. The odds of OP being hired by their teacher is insane. OP did be professional about all of this though. Story 1: there was only 1 way that this story was going to go. Something similar happened to me, where a few professors declared they didn’t like me and killed my chances of succeeding while the university stood by and watched. Best case scenario in these sit is transfer as soon as you can to save as much time and money as possible.

It's true. i) A classmate of mine almost got expelled because she discovered that one of her (ex)committee members had plagiarized substantial portions of his articles from another researcher. She didn't even make any accusations; she just asked her supervisor what to do about it. The supervisor put out some feelers, the committee member found out - my classmate got in trouble 'for slandering the respect professor', even though she could clearly show the original article, the plagiarized parts in the CM's article and the lack of citation in it. She was forced to publicly apologize to the CM, had to find a replacement with this big X next to her name, and was put on probation until she finally graduated. ii) I had one of my professors steal my PhD research (his class was to develop our proposals so he took mine and ran with it while I was waiting for the red tape that students must go through to progress in their degrees). The guy was not even tenured but my supervisor and I talked it over and figured out, especially in light of (i) above which happened just before my problem, there was not really anything I could do - the university would side with the prof. My supervisor at least made it so that I could still do my research and get my degree even though my study had already been published by someone else - I had to make revisions to get by. (the salt in the wound? the university highlighted the prof and 'his ground-breaking research' on their home page for most of a semester). The university has a huge amount of power over its students' lives - they hold all of the cards in this situation - and the university will side with the faculty almost no matter what.

But i) we're in Canada and suing really isn't a thing here; ii) as another employee of the university my prof would not have been allowed on my side of that fight; and so iii) I would have had to fight the university and its entire legal team by myself with my own funds (and I was working 3 jobs and barely making my rent at the time); and iv) I would almost certainly lose either in court or by running out of resources before the university did, been kicked out of that university for having sued them, and then have had to try and finish my degree at another university, applying with a huge X next to my name. I did, however, keep all documentation for several years after I graduated, and at the time carefully made it known among my peers to never take that prof's class - I also let some of the trusted profs in my department know to steer future students away from that prof. At the end of the day, I did graduate and have moved on in my career where I am a respected member of my (non-academic) community and am leading a contented, productive, and fulfilling life. Meanwhile that prof is still there doing his salami research,* still trying to play with the big dogs while the big dogs keep snubbing him because he is a butthole and no one wants to play with him. He will forever be the person on the outside looking in. I'm hoping he'll apply for tenure and get denied (he is not well like nor well published) and then he'll be booted and have to find a new job with a big X next to his name. But, I think he'll never have the courage which will eat at him and make him more unhappy. So, whether he applies for tenure or not he loses. There is some justice in that and he is extracting it on himself while I spend my resources on better activities. At the time, it was a major, negative life event for me. But now, I am happy to let Karma take over - Karma is a beautiful warrior goddess and seems to be handling things well in this case. --- *Salami research - taking a single research project/dataset and cutting it thinly, over and over again to publish articles that are almost the same as each other to look like it is something new but is just the same-old-same-old. I first heard the term when one of the trusted profs gratuitously said 'oh! That prof he's a salami researcher anyway, that's probably why he stole your research. He hasn't done anything in new about 10 years!.' I skimmed his online bio just now and he hasn't published anything since 2010 and it is three articles on the same topic.

Story 1: I'm a lecturer (not a dude though) and I am frikkin F U M I N G ... the worst part is, I can absolutely imagine higher-up and/or HR throwing a student, a junior colleague, a postgrad researcher, or basically anyone who isn't buddies with a Head of School/Dean under the damn bus. I have seen it plenty. There are so many great people working in higher education, and so many of us love to teach, research, and learn... but not a damn year goes by without something like this coming out of the woodwork and really harming someone in a lower power position... Every year I get closer to considering another line of work; this is not worth the burn out, awful precarious contracts, and underpayment. I either will have to start working as a Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion representative to actively combat this kind of dickery or leave because Jesus H Christ.

Story 3, I truly feel sorry for that kid. Unless something changes, he's probably going to grow up to be just as psychotic as his parents... I feel sorry for the kid because things will be bad for him either way. If he's like his parents, then ew. But if he's not, they are absolutely the kind of people that will make him miserable for it. I have a friend who went through this exact thing with his parents. He's in his 30s and still working out the damages. He sometimes still blames himself for "causing trouble when (he) could have just pretended" by doing things like NOT being racist, sexist... heck, I won't even list the rest, you get the idea. Anyway, I do hope those people get some serious help because all of that was wrong on a whole other level.

Yes. Alcohol has a desinhibiting effect, not a personality altering effect, which means that it removes your brakes, but the engine is still the same. It removes the impulse control, the shyness, the little voice in your head that asks "is this a good idea? will i get in trouble? what will happen? what are the consequences?" etc... The cognitive impact of alcohol can further prevent you from thinking clearly, aswell. But it's still you. It won't make you do something you wouldn't do unless you are extremely intoxicated, like no less than a sip away from not being able to walk.

The first story is a perfect example of how much our education system sucks. The student does absolutely nothing wrong yet they are the one that get screwed. This happened to me in high school a lot, my science teacher would write me up for things I didn't do and when I talked to my principal about it, I would get suspended. There was even a time where I was absent on a Friday, and came back on a Monday with an absentee note, I was written up that Friday that I was gone for disrupting the class during a test and calling the teacher a slur. When I was called to the office, the Principal sat me down and told me that what I did was wrong. I, being confused, asked him what he meant and he told me about the report. I told him it wasn't me because I was absent, and had given him the doctor's note and a handwritten note from my guardian. I also had the pink slip he had signed that morning marking me absent on Friday for my teachers to sign, and the fucking bastard still suspended me for three days because he believed the teacher. I lost faith in the education system that day, dropped out of high school and earned my GED online. It is sickening to know that people will pay thousands of dollars for classes and shit like what happened to this innocent girl happens and the school would rather back up a weasel of a teacher and not their students. Seriously, that's fucked.

Only case of horse abuse I knew was kind of the fault of the owner. He did business with (simply put) a member of the mob (organized crime). He had some expensive work done and pulled the crap a lot of entitled, rich folk do and try to dictate changes AFTER the work is done. One night, his stable burned to the ground with all of the Arabian horses inside. He then got a call from the mobster who gave his condolences about the loss of his horses then cryptically suggested that it was a good thing it didn’t happen to his house and family. They guy paid the mobster the agreed sum on the contract.

Story #3: I used to work in a barn. The child and parents in the last story should be THANKFUL that OP stopped their child from potential serious injury or death. I was accidentally kicked by a galloping horse when I was a kid (I think I was like 10 years old or so at the time). It was a kick to my arm, and my arm hurt like hell. It was a smaller younger horse, and luckily there were no broken bones or any major injuries, but it really hurt.

I had to help patch up a teen who got attacked by a horse. I have no clue what this kid did to piss off the horse, but she shattered his femur. Bucked him over her head, reared, and landed full force on his leg. I watched the security video after, because I was morbidly curious, it was definitely intentional. Some people just think horses are like big dogs.... They don't understand that that 2,000lb animal can give on flick of a foot & seriously injur a 100lb person... I've been riding since childhood & I've been bit, thrown & almost trampled too many times to count! My neighbor's daughter rides professionally & just the other day was trying to break a new horse.... The horse just wasn't having it & kept throwing her & ended up trying to crush her under its body... She got away with a bruised up shoulder... The horse ended up jumping straight up on the air & did some weird back flip, landing on its head & breaking its neck. She was stunned.... Heck, we were all stunned.... But like I told her, I'm glad it was the horse & not you.... Because that horse was literally trying to unalive this poor girl.... There's a reason the staff are 'being mean to your kid'.....

As a student of a program that is only offered at one college in the state, that first story could be absolutely devastating. There is only one university in the state that I live in that offers my program, and the credits do not transfer easily. Man, if I got kicked out I would have to give up because I would not be able to afford out-of-state tuition anywhere else. As an equestrian, that last story both angered and depressed me. That kid is SO lucky he didn’t get kicked. Horses are (generally) gentle creatures, and they aren’t out to hurt you just to hurt you. But the thing I think people forget is that horses are prey animals. If they feel like they’re in danger, they will fight if fleeing isn’t an option. If you sneak up on them, they will kick you, because for all they know you’re a predator. Their kicks, like you said, can KILL people, and their bites certainly aren’t pleasant either. Horses are beautiful animals, but you have to respect them.

I work on major trauma in the hospital and the amount of people we get in from horses injuring them is crazy! Those are adults and they come in with broken ribs, legs,arms, bitten off fingers and bashed in skulls, who require weeks, even months of therapies and surgeries. Can confirm: I was "gently" kicked by a horse when I was about 9. He didn't kick too hard, because I wasn't running towards him or anything, just got too close to his rear flank while cleaning his hooves, and very narrowly missed being kicked in the head. That was one of the most painful experiences in my life. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if he had kicked full force.

Ok, I haven't seen many people talking about this, but here's my theory on Story 1: The professor actually wished it WAS OP. Hear me out. The way she described the process on the "client" end sounded like it was basically Build-A-Bear (bare with my analogy here). Now it's possible the guy just left a bunch of stuff blank, and the two of them met through unfortunate coincidence. But what really feels likely is that he saw OP around (in his class or on campus), and was at least subconsciously thinking about her when he made his "order". College professors can have hundreds if not thousands of students a semester, what are the odds of him even recognizing her otherwise? I realize this idea has quite a few holes, but it could also explain part of why he felt so ashamed afterwards. Or angry, it's hard to tell his feelings exactly through his actions in the story.

Omg this reminds me when I was a stripper 🤣 when I was 18 to 19 I worked for a company that provided exotic dancers, escorts, stripograms, etc. I strictly stuck to just dancing, no shame on anyone who does escort work or "more", its just not what I'm comfortable with. Well I live in a small state and I was by far the youngest dancer under employment, so I went to almost every party. It wasnt uncommon for me to run into people I knew but after so many years I became unbothered by it for the most part. Well 1 party happened for a bachelor party, normal night, blah blah. Well as I danced I realized I recognized the groom but for the life of me I couldn't place from where. Finally after a good 15 minutes I happened to see the design on the back of a guys shirt and my eyes bulged, the groom must of been waiting for me to realize because he met my eyes with a shit eating grin... It was a bachelor party for my exs dad! My ex didnt want to go thankfully but I only met his dad a handful of times when when I saw the company design it smacked me in the face. He was awesome about it, didnt give me any grief and we got to catch up, he saw how chill I was about it and it didnt create issues thankfully. I was already naked at that point so no need for shyness 😭🤣 It was very scary to become a dancer at 18 but my boss, coworkers, and bodyguards were amazing and made me feel protected always. I dont regret it one bit, it helped me gain massive amounts of confidence and feel alot better about myself. Plus there were women with all body types, one of the favorites was a plus size blonde with a bouncy carefree attitude as well as a slim toned black woman with a gorgeous tattoo down her body.

Hurting the horses story: Horses are EXPENSIVE, both to buy and to care for. I imagine the vet bills cost a pretty penny. As did the other repairs to the fence and outbuilding. But what OP did was right. Horses are large, strong animals that even when trained can be startled and lash out. A kick in the right spot can seriously injure or kill an adult, let alone a child. OP may have been a bit harsh in what she said, but she was under stress by not only preventing a serious injury, but also explaining once again why the injury could happen.
