Presenting #Track3 of our on-going R.D. Burman's 85th Birth Aniversary Tribute Series. R.D. Burman’s two compositions back to back on the same tune, one from the 1977 R. D. Burman-Asha Bhosle Durga Puja album (HMV-EP record), and the 2nd one, from 1978 Hindi movie KASME VAADE LP record (Polydor) released in 1977. It’s an irresistible song with Asha Bhosle’s terrific voice modulation and fabulous instrumental usage of guitar, saxophone and other instruments which goes so well with the rendition of Asha Bhosle.
*Anecdote*
"Gumsum Kyon Hai Sanam" - Such a fabulous enthralling composition by R.D. Burman, and arguably for many could be the best song of tKasme Vaade. Unfortunately, this song which was part of the initial prints was excluded from the film to shorten the duration of the film. It was later used in the film Bhala Manush.

PANCHAM - 'GOD OF MUSIC' 1). In 1970s, PANCHAM DA was at his innovative best. 2). He used to do various types of experiments in his every composition and whenever any innovative idea came to his sharp mind, KISHORE DA & ASHA JI used to be his first choice. For this wonderful song ASHA JI was his 'GO-TO-SINGER' due to her voice modulation capability. 3). Absolutely high class voice modulation by ASHA JI. This song starts with GUITAR STRUMMING (Played by genius BHUPI JI - BHUPINDER SINGH JI) alongwith attractive & crisp TRIANGLE (Played by great HOMI MULLAN JI). 4). ASHA JI begins with HUMMING - she HUMS it just like how an ALTO SAXOPHONE sounds. 5). The moment her voice fades out, MANOHARI DA (Great - MANOHARI SINGH) with his ALTO SAXOPHONE kicks in. 6). This process is so seamless that most likely you won't notice this in first listening because it's difficult to find a break between the ASHA JI'S voice tonal quality & ALTO SAXOPHONE. 7). This song was recorded for film Kasme Vaade (1978), you can find the details in the LP Cover (Side A - 2nd Song). 8). This experimental song later fell into the kitty of the film Bhala Manush (1979). Many-2 thanks, Swapan Da & Subinoy Ji for bringing this extraordinary composition whose music & vocal parts are so mesmerizing, no matter how many times you listen to it, you will definitely want to listen to it one more time. 🙏🌹🙏
