I'm glad you are doing this. I was so frustrated when I got the RCP II and couldn't use it for basic streaming/gaming things. I would try to push for two more things (I've been streaming since 2014 and a full time streamer since 2018). 1.- Make the USB 1 Input capable of having more than just 2 virtual channels. Main and Chat is great, but I need at least 4 channels to route my apps (Spotify, Browser, Game and System) like I'm able with the GoXLR, the Beacn Mix Create, Elgato Wave Link or Avermedia Nexus. I know that I can have a 3rd one with USB 2 but it just doesn't feel right to waste 2 USB ports for just one extra virtual channel, besides, it leaves me without the chance to plug something else to USB 2. There is no point to use USB 2 on the same device if USB 1 can be split into more than just Main and Chat, which I'm sure you can do with a firmware update... that would unlock some serious potential that I'm sure the RCP II has. 2.- If we are able to choose what goes through to our monitor outputs would be awesome. There are A LOT of situations in which you need music/game/system sounds going through but you can't do that because the mics also go through and cause a loop. These are the 2 biggest suggestions I have for your team, and I think all of us gamers, but mainly streamers, would really really apreciatte. Thanks for the info and hearing your users. Love from Chile.

This. Simply put, all channels (in, out, mixed, and submixed) need to be individually accessible from either, or both USB ports.... Good example, I need my mic to go to my stream PC at a set level for chat, but I also need it to go to my game PC for in game chats and/or discord/guilded/etc...
@ErfonElijah
@ErfonElijah 2 жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree more. The only shortcoming I’ve seen so far with the RCP II is the lack of USB virtual devices on USB channel 1. Competitors offer more virtual channels and those are much needed for streaming. Would love to see more virtual channels offered.

Wow Rode is an amazing company!! Thanks for the link I was very confident they would push out a routing table. And a question for you @SuprUsrStan, when your setting the gain on your mic there is a little PA48 symbol to turn on or off which is obviously phantom power, but also a 0 with a slash through it like in the background of this video. What is that exactly? Is that mix-minus? It’s almost sounds like a noise canceling feature in my headphones when I engage it. Also I’m still having trouble hearing the voice effects on my own voice when engaged. I did before the update tho

Would really appreciate a dark mode for the unit where the lighting and screen dim and/or turn off until re-interacted with. Would also love to be able to control direct monitoring mic muting via Stream Deck. If we can access processing controls via the app then there should be a way to control muting thru windows to program into the Stream Deck.

@RODE Yes, please add remote control! I know my apps levels (ie. my radio app is notoriously too loud) and I want to adjust the faders at the press of the button on my Stream Deck (even if faders are not motorized, I don't care, it just allows to make a whole macro at the press of one button!). It would be good to hear from the Rode Development team whether it is even possible to address this in a firmware update or whether it is locked into the hardware design. For instance, I would be thrilled to turn off all onboard audio processing (if that were necessary) just to have zero (or near zero) latency monitoring in my headphones. That way I would hear the beautiful RCP2 pre-amps working on my beautiful microphones in pristine monitoring, as opposed to this unpleasant slight echo. Please Rode respond to this to set our expectations of what can and can't be done. Note that I contacted Rode Support regarding this issue since I got the unit on 16 June, but the ongoing correspondence indicates that the front line support staff do not appreciate nor understand the issue.

@@PiotrKonieczny I simulated the slight delay using my Sound Devices MixPre; I plugged my microphone and headphones into it and then slowly turned up the input delay for the microphone. At 0ms delay it was great, but at about 15ms input delay it sounded exactly like the RCP2. Of course 15ms is only indicative and hardly a scientific measurement, but interesting to note that the MixPre only goes up to a 30ms delay, so the RCP2 delay is very noticeable, like a slight echo.

Hi guys, I think this is a brilliant idea, I wish more companies had the initiative that you guys are doing right now and keeping us all informed of what's coming up. I want to be really cheeky now and ask, although I haven't seen the video through to the end yet if I could have a preset for my wonderful RØDE NT2-A microphone. As I've tried all the other settings, Including the NT1-A and the normal generic condenser microphone setting. None of which seems to get the right sound that I'm looking for, for my NT2-A. Can we please have the Rode Central App like the Rodecaster Pro Software used to be and you are able to access all the individual microphones, and output setting via the App? Not all of us have 20/20 vision and the numbers on the RCP2 screen are quite small to deal with and view. Also, I loved the way I could store any setting and parameters on the PC and load them in as required., Yes I know I can do this on the RCP2 but again using the app would make life easier. Last but not least as I use my RCP2 setup as a home Radio Studio, the ducking is important for me, can we have a setting that can adjust the amount of control of ducking that is used by either a +/- or an adjustable DB setting as I am not sure the one size fits all current ducking level is what I would like to have mine at. Last but not least thanks for bringing the Future into my life at an affordable price, I was a huge fan of the RCP1 and now I am totally in love with the RCP2 and can't wait to see what is in the pipeline for it. Many thanks, guys, great show and keep them coming!! DJ Steve

A couple of issues: - if I set Outputs -> Multitrack -> USB to "Post-Fader", the volume levels are indeed controlled by the RCP2, but the mute button is ignored. That has to be an oversight in the firmware. - according to the specs using multi-track, I'm supposed to have 16-track multitrack out and 2-in. That's not how it works. Once I start using multitrack, it either stops passing sound on the Main or the Chat interface. One or the other, not consistently. - the lack of a full manual really makes it hard, as some of the menus and settings are not quite as intuitive as you'd think. - the lack to of routing (customising the output mixes) is really a must. - there are a few quirks with bluetooth connectivity, that really need to be documented. - sometimes an audio channel is unresponsive after starting the RCP2 and a restart is needed. (I'm on firmware 1.0.3 now)

This thing is awesome! I've been a music producer and DJ for many years. As I started to get more into streaming and online content creation, it's been a weird game of compiling all the right elements to get the sound right using gear intended for live performances or studio work. The RCP II IS the all-in-one that I've been looking for. I've tried so many mixers/recorders, etc. over the past few years, and this surpasses them all. Finally, I can focus on creating as opposed to the 'technical' side of things, in all aspects of my work and creativity; live and streaming! Thanks for this, Røde! I'll have my list of bugs coming soon as well as a wish-list (which I'm sure will be quite short). Can't wait to see how this piece of equipment evolves!

Hi RØDE, here's a specific radio feature request: for radio professionals, the button above a fader often functions as a trigger. Today, thanks to your MIDI implementation, this can already be closely mimicked, but there are two issues: 1) When you press the button, not only do you trigger a MIDI command, but you also get the channel's settings on the display, which isn't what you want. It would be great if there's an option to make channel settings only appear after a long press on the button. (This would also lower the chance that an inexperienced user changes settings by accident.) 2) Currently, only one button can be active at the same time, e.g. if you press the button above fader 1, it lights up, then if you press the button above fader 2, it lights up too, but the button above fader 1 turns off. For radio, and I presume better DAW compatibility, it would be great if multiple buttons can have the on state simultaneously. Thanks for listening, you rock! 🎸
@clemradio
@clemradio 2 жыл бұрын
Would be awesome indeed. Some sort of Radio Console mode and the buttons above the faders would work as ON buttons. Also It’d be great if somehow they managed to implement ON-AIR light, maybe via USB or through computer so that when a mic fader is raised and the channel is on, it triggers the light for per example Yellowtec MiKA arms.
@asquelt
@asquelt 2 жыл бұрын
to make it more intuitive - there could be a MIDI icon on touchscreen. when enabled - any buttons are sent to MIDI, but ignored by Rodecaster, when off - the other way around. This way it would be possible to fast switch between two states and functions: DAW minion vs. standalone console.
@clemradio
@clemradio 2 жыл бұрын
@@asquelt great, but in radio it would still be great to use mute and solo, as well as audio signal. I think, to keep your idea, that if such a switch between MIDI and audio was ever to be implemented, we would need to determine which buttons get only midi and which only audio. But I still believe we'd need an ON button to trigger MIDI actions above the USB fader(s) but also above mic faders just as ON/OFF.

I have never used an audio mixer before (I think that's the right term), bought the RCP II as I'm an avid watcher of Tom Buck's channel and he loves the RCP and I wanted to level up my audio and beyond. As a newbie I found it so easy to set up and use within hours I went live with it. I'll be very interested in how you can switch scenes with the Smart Pads. The streaming software I use is quite new, EVMUX, and they are working on this ability, so I think I'll have a play with OBS to try it out, saves me buying a deck stream :) . I've gone a bit OTT this week and also bought the PSA1+, which arrived today, and the RodeMic which arrives tomorrow. I can already see the quality of the PSA when I compare it to my £20 unbranded arm, it looks good too! Keep up the awesome work guys, I've only learned 5% of what the RCP is capable of but I'm looking forward to learning as I go. Cheers Paul

1:22 You say that it has no limitations. Correct me if I'm wrong here on any point. 1) It's lacking a full audio routing table such as what the GoXLR has. 2) It's lacking submixes. 3) It's lacking an optical input so that I can plug my PS4 Pro's audio output directly into the RCP2 like, you guessed it, the GoXLR has. 4) The RCP2 needs way more than 3 audio devices, to be able to properly route audio among the many various possibilities don't you think? My GoXLR has 5 audio devices. For a device meant to also target Gamers, and streamers, those are some major oversights IMO. Once #1 and #2 are fixed via a software update I'd consider buying a RCP2. Of course #3 can't be fixed via an firmware update and will forever be a negative for me personally. Hopefully I can find a hack to get optical translated into something that the RCP2 accepts. Hopefully #4 cant also be fixed via a firmware update. Otherwise this hardware iteration is a hard pass for me. I'd really like to buy a RCP2 to either replace my GoXLR or use it in conjunction with it. But for it to be a replacement it has to be at least as good, if not preferably better than the GoXLR. As a live gaming streamer so far it fall short for my wants and needs.

Great content and very informative! I would love to see a short video on how to use this unit for simple music recording/production. Why? Cause I think this unit could have the abilities for many of us searching a small unit for recording ideas, or even songs with a small setup (e.g. vocals, guitar or keyboard, eventually a drum track via usb or line in). I personally would buy the Rode immediately if I could use it for singer/songwriter recording, if I could assign different reverb settings to more than one Chanel, or EQ channel 1 and 2 and e.g. Chanel 4. Really would love to see such a short video. Cheers!

@Rode Would it be possible to shorten the names as they appear in the OS, such as RCP2 Main, RCP2 Chat. With the current implementation, in some software, particularly Discord, you can't tell which input/output is which since they are too long and the names get truncated. This results in finding the right input/output a guessing game of trial and error.

Please allow RCP2 to assign "virtual" inputs like Game, Chat, Music, etc. to different sliders so it fulfills the promise of an all-in-one audio interface. I felt a little misled on my purchase. It's fantastic for podcasting, but I was hoping that it would replace my go XLR. Edit: Thank you!

Exactly I hope that the update will arrive very quickly, otherwise no interest for content creators, given the price of the rodecaster pro 2, keep the GOXLR which is better and cheaper! otherwise people will send their rode back.

Are you asking for USB1, USB 1 Chat and USB 2 to be assigned to a physical fader position? If so, you can reassign the faders to use the virtual channels via settings. Disregard if I misunderstood your comment.

The killer upgrade for me would be the ability to assign Spotify to Fader 2, Streamdeck audio to Fader 3, Chrome to Fader 4 etc. I’d never need any other piece of kit.
@KsaweryKarwacki
@KsaweryKarwacki 2 жыл бұрын
You will be able to do that even without update. Assuming that you are using single mic channel, you can currently pass 6 stereo signals (3 on usb, BT and two line ins bundled in stereo) and attach them to faders

@@KsaweryKarwacki Thanks for your reply but I’m not sure that works. These are all audio sources on my PC. A similar approach would be what PC Panel does or Beacn mix create. Would be nice not to have to use these extra accessories to control individual levels of these sources.
@KsaweryKarwacki
@KsaweryKarwacki 2 жыл бұрын
@@michaelwincott I understand but the concept behind those two are complete different. Beacn is about virtual channels you don't have physical input/output it's just a nice hardware controller for their app (it won't function without it). Rodecaster is physical mixer where you set mixes based on physical inputs and outputs so you don't need app or even computer to work with it.

@@KsaweryKarwacki Roadcaster Pro II from the very beginning is advertised as a perfect device for a couple of different users' types including gamers/streamers. That feature is basically the core one and a must have for that use case scenario. Without it it's not a device for gamers/streamers at all. If I already have all those different sound sources on my PC (game, discord, music, browser, etc...) just let me use them separately and assign them to individual physical faders. It would be really dumb to require me to send them through physical channels first. Then also let me to decide which sound goes to which output aka a proper routing table. If Roadcaster Pro II is anywhere close to be as powerful as they tell us to be, there is literally no reason not to expect that functionality from it. The hardware is already there, now we only need software that would make it happen. Not seeing it on launch was a bit of disappointment but I'm glad to hear it's been worked on already. If it's implemented well I might actually consider buying this device. Looking forward to it.

How will the audio routing table affect the current mix minus? It seems like the routing table allows you to do the basic usb mix minus plus a lot more. Maybe it is an "opt in" advance feature akin to the voice "depth, sparkle, punch" -> advanced settings.

Here are some of my feature requests to build on top of what you are doing… 1) To go with the routing table it would be great if on a smart pad you could enable back channel talk but not have to include input 1. So I would be the host on input 1 and hearing guest 3-4 (on input 3-4) having a side conversation over the talking me and guest 2. Here I could hit a smart pad and let them finish and then pop them back on without effecting the main mix. 2) Integrate native support for plugging the Wireless Go II receiver and getting two new inputs to assign transmitter 1 and 2 to separate faders. Giving me 2 more people (or up to 4 maybe using both USB) and more control with processing. 3) An update for the Rode Central app (or in the unit directly) where we can drag and drop smart pad entries to other smart pads so I can rearrange without having to clear a pad and re-setup on a new pad. Additionally being able to insert a page or re-order smart pad pages would also be very useful. Thank you guys for all your hard and amazing work!

So I'm using it to do a Podcast and a Video Talk show (2 separate gig's). So for the Podcast Version 1 was fine but there was no clean live output. For the Video Talk show, I will feed the LINE OUT/Monitors to the 1/4" input in my FX3 because the ATEM doesn't have that clean of audio input. I would like to be able to press a button to see output meters. But other than that I think this is all I need it is talking some practice because I was so used to the first one.

Hey there, the speaker icon in this state indicates that you don't have anything connected to the line outputs such as speakers. As far as why you may have no audio on playback of a recording, we would suggest checking your computer's audio outputs, also whether or not you had the mute button on the selected channel. If you're still stuck, we'd suggest reaching out to our Service Team: rode.com/contact
