This is Michael Stipe's favorite song from the REM catalog and have to agree my favorite song as well

My God, does Michael Stipe have any clue how much REM music shaped our lives in the 80’s.l? He was IN IT, but we lived it! So I think it might be a bit selfish to say, they will never reunite. I would pay $$$ for tickets to see R.E.M live in the US just once MORE! This song was prolific for me at a time in my life where things were unraveling. It helped me get through a rough time…it was like my anthem during that time. So many more songs that stamped time in the prime in our lives. I can’t be the only one who feels so passionate about their music. I see tour dates for the UK in 2023. I hope they consider touring, or Stipe alone, add ling tour dates especially to those of us who watched this grassroots Athens GA , college town band become bigger than LIFE! Stipe, please don’t forget your fans in the south eastern US.; GA. AL, MS, TN! We still ADORE YOU!! Please add us to your concert dates so we can blow it out while we still can! (Those of us in our 50-60’s!) *Edited for spelling

Camilla, I met him when they came to Savannah Nov.1984!! He was VERY shy back then, but we talked backstage with the whole band for about 2 hours!! AMAZING MAN!!!! He touched my hands and said they were way too cold( he's right, I have a circulatory problem), then he held my hands and warmed them up! They don't act like ''rock stars'' at all!! I remember telling them they were gonna be around a very long time, they laughed(I was right!!)

I saw them on this tour in Miami and they were not not near this good. It was like they were in way over their heads with the size of the arena (American Airlines Arena). The sound was fuzzy and echo-y and it felt liked they were mailing it in. I left feeling ripped off. But these performances are incredible. Can't believe it's the same tour. At their best here, as far as I can tell.
@gentillygirl5454 жыл бұрын
I never had the pleasure, unfortunately. They came to New Orleans at the same time the Smiths did. I had enough money to see one show, so I saw the Smiths. But yeah, they seem like a band that will OWN a smaller, more intimate setting.
@dank88653 жыл бұрын
This was always a "mail it in" band unless they had cameras on em. Seriously dude, from day one when the made their 1st appearance on Letterman. Stipe did this "I'm too cool to sell out so I won't even look at the guy with the microphone talking to us" shtick & left Peter Buck holding the bag to do all the talking. You knew they were poseurs. I felt that way at least. A few good songs and wheelbarrows of insincere bullshit. It made them a career. All the dancing and jumping & NONE OF IT was wrought from emotion. All fake "energy." If they had tried that shit anywhere in the mid - late 70s they'd of gotten killed onstage. 80s college kids didn't know the diff when they came up, thankfully for them. Poseurs. It was the worst thing you could be called in the 70s "indie" (punk/new wave.) These guys wore it like a tailored suit. Poseurs. Watch a performance with the sound off. You can see the insincerity drip off them like oil. Then watch someone like Eddie Vedder in the video someone here on KZbin put together of him and his band doing a cover of X's "Poor Girl." You'll see the difference. Here's the link to Eddie (and I don't even LIKE Eddie Vedder - it's a Chicago thing.) kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXTInJmBbpVlpqc
