This is a concert I got a few years ago. It's pro shot and the sound isn't bad except the bass drum is kinda loud.

I was at this show. May 27, 1985 (Memorial Day) at an amphitheatre on the campus of Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. It was a benefit show called the NC African Relief Concert. I still have the ticket stubb which lists the limeup as REM, The Pressure Boys, Me and Dixon and others. The Pressure Boys did a couple of reunion shows in May and some old friends and myself were remembering this very show. Good times, great memeories!

Even thought the played last after the sun had started to go down, the temperature was still in the high 80s F. Just looking at this footage and remembering how hot it was makes me want to faint.

Saw R.E.M. at McCabes N.l.U. 1984,looking back single greatest nite of my life.A priveledge to of been aboard the 31 year growth. N Ride of America's Greatest Rock Band Ever. Lightnin Hopkins in Chicago later was my defining moment ever when Michael collapsed to the floor after his ending flailing yell,the microphone went flying.With Mills n Buck looking at each other grinning knowing they had just painted a live Rock n Roll Masterpiece. I knew l had witnessed one!!!

Man Bill really sped up those tempos live, didn't he.
@tarheel84946 жыл бұрын
no, this tempo is really no faster than the studio version. which is impressive.

This was for a locally established Ethiopian Famine Relief fund. I'm very sorry that they didn't make it to Live Aid, as they would have blown the doors off everyone else who played that day.

i think this is the only video i've seen of him playing his thinline tele.

There is other footage of him playing Teles, but the Thinline, I'm not sure. There probably is, and I wonder if it's borrowed. Wahi' Valleys

They were amazing in the mid 80’s. Kinda like the early Beatles. Less sophisticated, but the energy was so fresh!

I don't know if it was a very early show. They would have had of have to be pretty well known to get on this gig. Hard to remember, long time ago. I had just returned to NC from Ohio after a 6 week recording school gig. I had some freinds who played in a band, we all hooked up, got drunk and high and had a great time. REM were rock stars in the south at the time, but still relatively unknown elsewhere.

I was at this show, too. I was wearing a long-sleeved dark-grey shirt and black Kangol cap (way before it became a rap staple). Dear lord, was it hot!
