My dad used to play this song in the summer time, when I was a kid. He would open all the windows and I just remember the feeling of the air coming through the house and this song playing on the radio. It was this song that sparked my love of music, and those summer days listening to it. I was probably in 3rd or 4th grade. I’m 28 now.

Could you explain to me this verse?
@tomolvera3383 Жыл бұрын
@saadhn4216 I interpret this verse as a person put on the "spot" or spot lighted by another. Closely watching them to see a reaction after they have done something to trigger said person "in the corner". They are basically backed into a "corner" by the other person wanting to see what is there next move,action or even words to speak. He is losing his "religion" or in other words faith or patience with the person putting them in this situation...but music is great because people can take from it and utilize what helps them to get through any situation or feeling imo.

When I was 17, I truly feel in love with someone who was very dear to my heart all my life, we grew up together, our parents were best friends. He suffered from drug addiction, and I always tried so hard to help him, during our relationship I printed out these lyrics and gave them to him, this song is how our friendship and relationship was word for word. We didn't work out, we broke up, but I tried so hard to save him still after the break up, and never stopped loving him. On July 14th 2017 he passed away from an overdose, and this song makes me cry everytime i hear it, i wish so hard I could of saved him. The part when he says "but that was just a dream.." rips right through me on how badly I wanted and would dream about saving him and seeing him clean and happy 💔

That's a shame, when I met my partner (my first love, first anything tbh :-P) I was a heroin addict, didn't want to put her through that but she was my neighbor and she took to chapping me every morning to go out walking, and to be so comfortable with anybody (I had bad anxiety) was quite amazing to me, we were spending a lot of time together and I was managing to keep clean, one night she was talking to her friend about struggling to find a guy who wasn't afraid to commit and I blurted out that it was exactly what I wanted, she didn't realize that I was suggesting that we start a serious relationship so I asked directly, really showing my complete lack of any experience with women, but hey, we have two kids now and she has said that in every aspect I have been the best partner she had, except for maybe my low confidence outside of with her, so must've done something right. And what I get from her is so much better than heroin! (The love I mean! Although...) Just wish it could be different for you, my partner loves this song, she had me blast it all night in bed drinking and having fun! Good days, although we stopped the heavy drinking, we remained the couple always holding hands with our heads on each other and I think the guy downstairs still hates us!

We lost a great man today The one and only Luke Perry aka Dylan McKay from the Iconic hit show Beverly Hills 90210. I first heard this song when it was playing on the radio in Dylan's car as Brenda broke up with him at the beach. And everytime I hear this song it makes me think of Dylan and Brenda💔💔💔 Rest in Peace Luke, you will be dearly missed. 1966 - 2019

@dreadogastusf35484 жыл бұрын
@@sagitariosolitario774 Certainly you may ask. Catholic. I was a strong believer as a child. As I grew into my teens I became... disaffected. The endless rituals. The lack of devotion that I saw in priests and nuns. I still believe in the moral principles. But I have little respect for the petrified organization of the church.

REM owes it's popularity to the depression everyone has felt. Everybody hurts, and they are not afraid to share that.

Heard this song for the first time in the movie Endings, Beginnings, which I highly recommend everyone to watch it. This song is full of meaning, and while I haven’t had the same experiences as many people with this song, it does mean a lot to me, in a way that I can’t even explain.

i fantastic song,words and music and it reminds me of the day my son passed and our minister refused to baptise him as he didn't know him enough although we were full members of the church and his assistant had visited him in hospital daily for over a weak.l love doing and music not as much as l loved my son ,a happy sad song.

In the song, Michael Stipe sings the lines "That's me in the corner/That's me in the spotlight/Losing my religion". The phrase "losing my religion" is an expression from the southern region of the United States that means losing one's temper or civility, or "being at the end of one's rope." Stipe told The New York Times the song was about romantic expression.[8] He told Q that "Losing My Religion" is about "someone who pines for someone else. It's unrequited love, what have you."[9] Stipe compared the song's theme to "Every Breath You Take" by The Police, saying, "It's just a classic obsession pop song. I've always felt the best kinds of songs are the ones where anybody can listen to it, put themselves in it and say, 'Yeah, that's me.'"[10]

This is one of my mom's favorite songs and she used to play it a lot during my childhood. Now I'm 15,I fell in love with this song once again, especially because of the lyrics "Losing my religion" destroys me and at the same time,it gives me strength to move on
