My dad used to play this song in the summer time, when I was a kid. He would open all the windows and I just remember the feeling of the air coming through the house and this song playing on the radio. It was this song that sparked my love of music, and those summer days listening to it. I was probably in 3rd or 4th grade. I’m 28 now.

Ok but “losing my religion” is a southern phrase for losing your temper. I didn’t realize this was regional and apparently they didn’t either.

Could you explain to me this verse?
@tomolvera3383
@tomolvera3383 Жыл бұрын
@saadhn4216 I interpret this verse as a person put on the "spot" or spot lighted by another. Closely watching them to see a reaction after they have done something to trigger said person "in the corner". They are basically backed into a "corner" by the other person wanting to see what is there next move,action or even words to speak. He is losing his "religion" or in other words faith or patience with the person putting them in this situation...but music is great because people can take from it and utilize what helps them to get through any situation or feeling imo.

I don't know why.....song brings me back to a girl. She really loved me, but I didn't acknowledge her love. I was the fool, thinking that she was just using me. Only when she was gone did I realize that reality, and also that I loved her. A great, irreversible loss in my life. We are still friends, but the past is like the spilled milk. She walks beside me in my dreams even now, ten years later.

When I was 17, I truly feel in love with someone who was very dear to my heart all my life, we grew up together, our parents were best friends. He suffered from drug addiction, and I always tried so hard to help him, during our relationship I printed out these lyrics and gave them to him, this song is how our friendship and relationship was word for word. We didn't work out, we broke up, but I tried so hard to save him still after the break up, and never stopped loving him. On July 14th 2017 he passed away from an overdose, and this song makes me cry everytime i hear it, i wish so hard I could of saved him. The part when he says "but that was just a dream.." rips right through me on how badly I wanted and would dream about saving him and seeing him clean and happy 💔

That's a shame, when I met my partner (my first love, first anything tbh :-P) I was a heroin addict, didn't want to put her through that but she was my neighbor and she took to chapping me every morning to go out walking, and to be so comfortable with anybody (I had bad anxiety) was quite amazing to me, we were spending a lot of time together and I was managing to keep clean, one night she was talking to her friend about struggling to find a guy who wasn't afraid to commit and I blurted out that it was exactly what I wanted, she didn't realize that I was suggesting that we start a serious relationship so I asked directly, really showing my complete lack of any experience with women, but hey, we have two kids now and she has said that in every aspect I have been the best partner she had, except for maybe my low confidence outside of with her, so must've done something right. And what I get from her is so much better than heroin! (The love I mean! Although...) Just wish it could be different for you, my partner loves this song, she had me blast it all night in bed drinking and having fun! Good days, although we stopped the heavy drinking, we remained the couple always holding hands with our heads on each other and I think the guy downstairs still hates us!

I'm not legally deaf (I mean, it'll probably keep getting worse) but I totally get this as someone with hearing loss. I actually, a couple years ago (so seven or so years ago, because the millennium change messed up my sense permanently there) had this boss about most of our ages, but she liked to play naggy mummy. One day, came in with my Walkman still on--many remember how loud tape Walkman got (or get, for those of us still using them) and she was on about how I'd lose my hearing. Of course, it was loud because I'm losing my hearing in the first place 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

After being raised in a powerful, mind-control cult, having that belief system destroy my life and losing my family because I left it all, this song so adequately expresses my love for them, and my utter frustration at not being able to reach them; to not be able to help them to "wake up" to the reality of what they are a part of. This song, from the time I first heard it, has been my validation, my affirmation, and my support.

Very well done for getting clean. It’s not about religion though. Losing his religion means he is angry. It’s an American south saying. Pjesma je velika i legendarna, tekst, glazba i spot. Mislim da može terapeutski pomoći u najtežim trenucima, kada gubimo tlo pod nogama, gubimo sebe i dođemo do ruba, kada smo na izmaku snaga i "losing my religion".

"Losing my religion" is an expression from the American South which means to become angry or lose your temper or patience. I.E. "If you don'r stop messing with me, I'm about to lose my religion with you." R.E.M. is from Athens, GA, so naturally this expression would be in common usage to them.

In the song, Michael Stipe sings the lines "That's me in the corner/That's me in the spotlight/Losing my religion". The phrase "losing my religion" is an expression from the southern region of the United States that means losing one's temper or civility, or "being at the end of one's rope." Stipe told The New York Times the song was about romantic expression.[8] He told Q that "Losing My Religion" is about "someone who pines for someone else. It's unrequited love, what have you."[9] Stipe compared the song's theme to "Every Breath You Take" by The Police, saying, "It's just a classic obsession pop song. I've always felt the best kinds of songs are the ones where anybody can listen to it, put themselves in it and say, 'Yeah, that's me.'"[10]
