Yeah, this week’s R.E.M. resurgence came out of nowhere, but it’s been really cool. That extended interview CBS posted was really special. Loved every minute of it. One of the things I thought about when I watched the first part of the interview that was released earlier in the week was your album ranking video series on the band. Really enjoyed those videos, and they actually had me listening to the band again regularly for the first time in a while. I’m really glad that they have true closure now. Getting recognized for their songwriting, and getting to play one last song together in public…with Bill…that feels like the best ending for them. They seem content, and honestly, as a fan, so am I. I do think it is kind of interesting that they still have this rehearsal space/clubhouse that seemingly has not been touched despite the fact that they have not been an active band for some time.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed my countdown. So many good albums. I've gotten on quite the kick since the interviews and live appearance. Fables, Document, New Adventures, Up, and Live at the Olympia. What a band. Keeping the rehearsal space going is interesting. I read somewhere that they will sometimes lend out their equipment to bands.

Yes lots of R.E.M. this week. Songwriting is a great honor and things were different after Berry left. Seeing them together was cool! Emotional indeed! And no they don't need to reunite..they have done it all.

I watched the extended interview yesterday or the day before. Hearing Bill talk about how he still had some regrets after leaving the band. Emotional stuff. I wish I could find Isbell’s entire induction speech.

Yeah, that was really powerful. I would like to find Isbell’s speech as well. I keep thinking R.E.M. must have talked longer than a minute too. But maybe that’s all there was to it.

Great week to be an REM fan! Bill Berry had me all sorts of choked up during that CBS interview. I like your idea of them coming back and doing something under a different name. I always wished that they had done one last album with Mitch Easter producing again. I love the last two albums, but hated the production.

Hey Todd, I just brought this up in my video today very briefly. I did not know about it until the press broke it. I watch the long 40 minute CBS news interview. I have not seen the Rick Beato one yet. I am still not done with the Brenden O'Brian one have you seen that? I respect their decision it was time. I was lucky to see them twice '86 & '89 I think. They have a impressive catalog and I actually have "Fables" on right now. I dropped off after "Monster" so I need to revisit the albums after. Cool that you posted this, enjoyed your thoughts on it. But yea I would of liked a different song but still was refreshing to see.

@@lostmixtapes Yea I think it took a bit for the whole band to warm up during the Dark Matter sessions. It was great to see the R.E.M. clips.
