The problem with the story I have is theanager should have been able to settle it all quickly. Most places, especially McDonald's, have security cameras installed. One look at the cameras and the manager would have been able to see that the jacket had been on op since he showed up at the location.

The last story makes me sick to my stomach. Sure, as a female I'm fully aware of the double standard due to my gender, but it still pisses me off to see men get treated like that. The biggest problem is the lack of punishment. I mean, someone convicted of sexual assault can get years in prison, but a false accusation just gets a warning basically. There is not much detriment to doing it. Doesn't make sense to me, just up the punishment so the trash of society think twice and then thrice about pulling something like that. I would say, if someone is found guilty of false accusation beyond all reasonable doubt, they should be slapped with the same sentencing the accused would have faced. If you are trying to ruin someone's life, your life should be ruined back when you get caught...

Sadly we as a society can't change these double standards because of the stereotype being nailed into other people's heads due to either a twisted upbringing or because many people from previous generations refuse to let go of these hateful ways and now it's even worse because of today's set standards increasing these ideals

@@lebird1559 You have to prove that the person making the accusation was making it up. As in the case of the video, there was clear proof that the accusation was bogus and made up. In the case that it is indeterminate or not possible to prove either way. The case should be considered neutral and neither party can be held accountable since there is no proof. The person even though they are accusing and have no evidence may also not have any evidence against them either. Innocent until guilty remains in effect. This ruling would thus only apply if there is direct evidence that the claim is bogus precisely to safeguard those that make a claim when it has happened to them but are unable to prove it yet there is also no direct proof against them that it is a false claim either.

That's how things are now and days. Some people will cry that word to get someone in trouble and ruin their lives so they can get something out of it. Even with cameras and the patch, cops might incline to believe a victim of sexual assault or rape on such a situation especially when they were detained for it regardless of proof of guilt or innocence. It is sad cause people like this will likely affect individuals who were raped or sexually assaulted and have proof of it. It creates a stigma that leads to lower levels of justice and can negatively affect people.

@@missluciddreams3472 It happens more often than you think. Usually when a girl cries that against a guy, it's guilty until proven innocent. Hell, it happened to a pretty famous voice actor a couple years ago, and even now some cons refuse to have him there, and some people will refuse to go to cons if he is there, even though he was proven innocent, meanwhile his accusers keep their jobs and get to walk away scott free.

A story from a friend of a friend from years back. I never met this friend of a friend but from what I was told her grandmother was a master seamstress and actually knitted a waterproof jacket for her (Have no idea how or with what materials) Another girl was jealous and pushed the girl over and kicked her. Then stole the jacket and ran off (they were both around 16). Her friends ran to a pay phone, before mobile/cell phones about the early to mid 90's and called the police. The thief was apprehended and claimed the jacket was hers. Well the friend of a friend then told the cops that her grandmother had stitched her full name under the collar at the back of the coat near the neck. The thief was arrested for assault and theft. When the thief got out of juvenile detention, a year later, she actually went looking for the friend of a friend and tried to stab her. She was then arrested for attempted murder and sent to prison for about 5 years. Never heard of her again.

Not keep them as a slave for your own benefit like some parents do. OP did an amazing job keeping their boundaries. So much respect to OP and I hope they do well in life after their parents failed him.

Of course! I feel like society is braindead, because even in the event that the falsely accused is PUBLICALLY PROVEN ON LIVE TV TO BE INNOCENT, jobs will still refuse to let them in as a hire despite logic dictating the person is innocent. However, if we punish false claims, we have to be careful to separate an actual false claim vs an actual victim who was unlucky enough to be unable to prove their case. The last story bothers me on SO many levels, for so many reasons, but I think one of the worst things about it is the fact that the OP was stripped of his property and cuffed before any sort of questioning even occurred. A lot of folks here have rightly pointed out that it was incredibly odd that nobody even thought about security cameras, but I think it's a bit alarming to think about how actions were taken before any discussion was to be had. Of course it would be different if anybody was in immediate danger, but that was clearly not the case here, at first glance I feel like most people would view it as a verbal argument. That's not to say that it isn't prudent to believe a victim when they say they have been hurt, but doing that is not the same as blindly handing out punishments or anything before first investigating what is actually the case. The police in this story should have known to speak to eyewitnesses and check camera footage before taking any actions; it feels like they were ready to just throw OP in a cell just because an entitled brat decided to scream rape in the middle of a fast food establishment. That sort of blatant negligence is just one reason why a lot of Americans don't trust our police and justice system.

The last story reminds me of the German case of Horst Arnold from 2002, who was falsely accused by another teacher (Heidi Külzer) that he had allegedly raped her. Despite his desperate pleas of innocence, and despite the lack of factual evidence, he was found guilty and had to serve full 5 years in prison, mostly because he maintained that he's innocent throughout his prison time. Only after he served his sentence, the truth was discovered, and Heidi Külzer's lies were revealed. Mr. Arnold sued the Federal Republic of Germany for proper compensation, to no avail; he was never properly compensated for his wrongful incarceration. He also tried to get reinstated as teacher, but also to no avail. In the end he lived on welfare until his death a few years later. His accuser, Heidi Külzer, did get a prison sentence as well in the end; but she still managed to ruin this man's life, with the help of the German state (and the federal state Hesse) who's officials to this day maintain that they were correct in automatically assuming Mr. Arnold's guilt.

The first story tore me apart. That was my life growing up and after I was kicked out for vaping and “being a danger to their family” they tried to hold things over my head all the time and everyone always gave the same advice “Oh you’re an adult, just stand up to them, what can they do?” But people truly don’t understand the mental hold your parents can have on you after YEARS of manipulation and mental abuse. I’m the oldest of 9 and was home schooled the last three years of highschool and basically became a third parent. I got married last year and told my parents I didn’t want kids at the wedding because I knew my parents would make it all about them like they always did. It was a huge argument and I ended up allowing them to come two days before the wedding and was devastated. Don’t get me wrong. I would die for every single one of those children. But being raised the way I was to basically parent them put a huge rift in our relationships when I left.

That is in no way misogyny. Misogyny is believing women should only be in the home and be pregnant, and nothing else. False accusations hurt everyone, not just the person who they are directed against. It's for this reason that victims of assault (both men and women) are always second guessed, always asked what they were wearing, what did they do to provoke the assault, what were they drinking, why were they there, did they lead their attacker on, and of course told they deserved it for XYZ above. It's why so many don't come forward, and even when they do they get shunned and humiliated to the point that some even take their own lives while their attacker goes free (Bowen Turner...may he and the rest of that town have a seat in Hell). Religious leaders are no better and label them as whores who got what they deserved (or in the case of men, can't be raped because they wanted it), so no comfort there. All because of women like these that already add fuel to actual misogyny.

No way, that does not make you a misogynist. It's not like only women get raped and even if that were the case, accusing somebody of something so horrific like that dishonestly is one of the worst things you can do to a person.
@honeybelle1203
@honeybelle1203 2 жыл бұрын
@Abraham Brighton I don't have the energy or brainpower to explain to you all the reasons why your last statement is completely ridiculous. C'mon. The belief that falsely accusing somebody of such a horrific act of abuse is awful does not equate to men in general being considered as or treated like second class citizens on a broader scale. That's the result of traditional gender roles being toxic for everybody; not an indication that the past hundreds of thousands of years of history being rewritten or erased.

@Abraham Brighton ...Its still women, just because false claims like this favor women doesnt mean men have ever, on the basis of their gender, been oppressed. Lets not slip down that slope into far right propaganda, mkay?
@honeybelle1203
@honeybelle1203 2 жыл бұрын
@Abraham Brighton Oh, absolutely! Again, these things are the result of society refusing to give up traditional Western gender roles, and not the absence of misogyny in the West or anywhere. The belief that women are inherently caretakers, that they are somehow always the better choice for child placement regardless of objective reality is a part of why men are given the short end of the stick in family court. Rooted in the belief that parenting and homemaking is "women's work" and that fathers raising their children is somehow strange, or unnatural. It isn't even just a legal justice thing either I mean, it's 2022 and so many men's restrooms don't have changing tables still. Like what are they supposed to do? Put their babies on the filthy ass bathroom floor??? It just proves that gender roles hurt everyone in the end. Again, you aren't wrong about 90% of what you said, but the implication that women universally no longer suffer from misogyny or the same dumb gender stereotypes (in any place) is completely false

People who falsely accuse like that make me sick and furious, partially because of how it affects the people they accuse of course, but also because it often makes people take REAL accusations of assault/abuse less seriously and makes people less likely to believe actual victims.

That last reddit post was fucking disgusting. Talk about double standards. They went to all this trouble JUST to move a GROWN MAN out of the room all because a little girl screamed rape and falsified it. I understand why they did it. Doesn't make it right.

As an abuse survivor I gotta say props to OP. I know he could have situations tying him back to his parents but I would recommend taking those silent treatments in stride and going no contact asap. I'd also recommend a therapist if he can afford one and the subreddit r/raisedbynarcissists. It can be super hard to unlearn all the things taught by his parents as the black sheep of the family but judging by the courage OP showed in this story I know OP can do it.

Last story, people who are found falsely accusing others of rape should by default face the EXACT same sentence that the accused would have if the claims were true.

The boy with the entitled parents story…I have a dad who is very toxic. He had a regime Hitler could learn something from. He terrorized my mother and me. I am SO thankful that my mom teached me stand up for myself from a young age. She herself was not able to apply it to herself. I never took any BS of my dad, which led to endless huge fights. The final straw was when he locked the entire house en threatened to set it on fire with us in it. After that we went no contact for a few years. In 2015 my mom left him, that seemed to open his eyes. They came back together, my dad went and still goes to therapy. He has his bad moments, but he is trying. Some context: they were together for 43 years when my mom left. They never had any relationship or passionately hugging with someone else.

first story: in my country, we have a little useful thing called TSO (obligatory sanitary treatment) basically, you call, the neuro gets here, load you unruly parent in the ambulance and off she goes to 2 weeks of mandatory psychiatric treatment. Well, after the 2 weeks they will return her, but at that point, you can simply refuse to let her in your house.

Last story: please Let OP sue them and file a complaint for being put in cups before the police officer get his side of the story. Also I am assuming that McDonald didn’t have security cameras, because that is the only acceptable reason for why the manager didn’t check before assuming that’s woman with telling the truth.

How about a new law called false rape law where if someone is discovered to have a false rape accusation then they will get the amount of jail time the accused person would have gotten.

This would have to apply if it was clearly a malicious lie and not a identity mistake or unclear case. The mother and daughter were a clear case of malicious lie. On top of your punishment, they should be put on a false accusers list so if they ever try it again, they will not be believed at all.

That last story... wow. It's scary to think how false accusations like that could ruin you. OP was lucky. If there weren't cameras or had he not thought about that one small detail, he woulda been screwed. Shoulda filed for harassment or something though. Inconveinence them as much as they did him
