29:00 this story scares me a lot because peanut allergies can be deadly. The mom should’ve taken him to the ER immediately, or at least givin him a little medical attention. This kid could have genuinely died if his allergy had been worse.

Grandparent's Rights is an actual thing and in some states a Grandparent's can actually sue parents for the right to have contact with their grandchildren. However, it can be a difficult case to win bc the grandparent must prove that lack of contact or termination of contact btwn the grand & child is detrimental to the child. In OP's case though, his mother wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell.

43:00 This story is what truly gives people with these mental illnesses a bad name. I personally have depression, social anxiety, PTSD, and Bipolar 2 while still holding a FT job, an apartment, two dogs, psychiatric help, and keeping a good relationship with my family. It’s hard as hell and sometimes overwhelming, but it’s rewarding. I know mental illness effects everyone differently but this has to be some sort of untreated personality disorder.

My school was racist as hell. We had those baby dolls in home economics and I tried to sign up but was rejected every year. Found out they only allowed the black girls to take the class (and that one white girl that got pregnant over the summer) because they were higher risk of accidental pregnancy. 🙄 that school was horrible our coach was arrested for selling drugs our state studies teacher misspelled the states name. The health teacher did not believe in triplets. 2 weeks before graduation one of my class mates thought blood in the veins was actually blue, and my English teacher failed in writing proper English on a condolences card. There were a few good ones but they were the minority.

I think it's really weird that it's called Good Friday in English. The translation of the Swedish name is "the long Friday" because it was a long day full of suffering for Jesus and because the church service would be extra long on that day. (At least according to Wikipedia)

According to the Oxford Etymology Dictionary, the meaning of "good" in this sense is derived from the Middle English and German words for "pious", "holy", or "sacred", similar to how people call the Bible "the good book" or how people used to call Christmas "good tide".

Story - Dogs let run and chase ponies. I grew up in an eastern, Midwest state. There were several farmers my father included that owned small flocks of sheep. There were also the occasional pack of unclaimed dogs. It was accepted at the time if you saw a pack of dogs attacking your sheep, you had the right to shoot the dogs. One of our neighbors had a German Shepherd that was occasionally spotted running with a pack of feral dogs. I don't recall any fallout, but one of the farmers shot and killed the dog during an attack on his sheep. Like I said i don't recall any drama over the incident except, I think the owner of the German Shepherd basically said, fair enough. When it comes to protecting your livestock, you should be allowed to take appropriate action. Personally I would have put the gelding in with the ponies after the first incident and warning. Uncontrolled dogs are no better than coyotes or wolves.

48:00 The depression probably isn't as serious as she's making it out to be, nor is the anxiety, but she definitely has something going on, because even if she doesn't have those specific disorders, she still needs help because she's pretending to have them.
@Fortuna0304
@Fortuna0304 2 жыл бұрын
I also think that the depression and anxiety, which she might have, but not as severe is not the sole factor here. I think she might have some kind of personality disorder from what I have read, since she can go out clubbing, where I would think that she is in a good mood when she goes and comes back, but other times she either shuts people out or tries to cause drama and fights. So it might be something like that, but I am no professional so this is just a speculation off of what I heard and noticed here.

I kind of agree, but also dont for one pure simple fact. She is abusing the sister and mother, and mental health issues are not an excuse to abuse other people. It also seems like she doesnt even wanna try, so to me it kinda seems like shes just a nasty bully who is using her mental health issues to furthur bully people.

About peanut allergies: they can get deadly and tend to get progressively worse as you age. Also, your body can actually just... decide you are allergic to something. Some have it from birth, but I was able to eat peanuts and other tree nuts without issue (barring walnuts, which made the roof of my mouth hurt and in hindsight was prob a reaction). I was 25 before I had a serious / noticeable reaction. Now I can't eat peanuts or most tree nuts (can have almonds for now) without a serious reaction. My allergy to shellfish and strawberries was a bit like this, though I was in highschool when I started reacting to them.

REDDITOR: Peanut and other allergies.....Allergies get more severe per exposure. So, first exposure you often get a freebie, but your system sets up a reaction that waits to strike. Next exposure you may get swelling and hives but nothing really that serious. Third time you could get worse including Anaphylaxis. I know a person that had this happen the 3rd time she got a shot of Penecillin, another friend with a Shellfish Allergy, same thing, a kid in school with walnuts. In some people the buildup can be really slow motion. I know an adult that went from only a tingling over the years with Citrus to full on Anaphylaxis truely overnight. They can't even pick up an orange anymore. It's like their body just one day said "Enough!" Kids get Peanut Butter pretty early so Peanut Allergies often show up early.

The daughter who is using depression as an excuse to be a terrible and useless person: As someone who has struggled severe depression and anxiety for decades, IMHO she is depressed, but it is nowhere near as debilitating as she lets on. 1)There is no mention of threats to unalive herself or someone else. 2) She refuses to take meds. If she is not depressed, Zoloft will have certain very noticeable effects. 3) If she was as depressed as she says she is, she would not be able to go out clubbing. In fact she would barely be able to get out of bed.

4:17 That dog owner is nervy AF to just let their dog run & chase horses like that. In the country in the US 99% of the time your dog chases livestock, there’s not calling animal control or the police. It’s shooting on sight the moment they cross over to someone else’s property. No warning, no talking to, nothing.

There are national holidays, but I'm not sure about GF. Another thing, in some states, once the school year schedule is set, it can't be changed. snow days are baked in, so if there aren't many school ends early. If there are a lot however, there are only so many "make-up-days" built into the calendar and there can't be any extra added (if a schedule has 6 days, but 9 snow days, three days are just gone). Also, in some places the contract with the bus drivers only covers so many days. Once that's agreed on, it's done, no more school after the last day for the drivers.

REDDITOR... Grandparents rights are a thing. Not just in states like California, as someone weirdly states. Actually, most states of the US have grandparent's rights. That's why you hear of Karen Grandparents every now and again here trying to claim them. It doesn't work that way. In certain instances, such as, if a father passes away and his children have a strong relationship with the paternal grandparents, if the mother refuses to allow the grandparents so visit the children, they can petition the courts for that right.

This! My bio mom’s (I was taken fully out of her care due to extreme abuse and my dad got full custody) parents completely messed with my dad and step mom and made their life hell suing for grandparents rights and they won. I had to see them every other week until I tuned 16 and they would try to manipulate me against my parents but eventually they ghosted me entirely when I told them they had to stop harassing me at my job and calling my workplace demanding to see me.

Yes one can die from an allergic reaction, anaphylactic shock is a killer unless treated immediately. Eli pen use must be followed by a trip to the ER. The M&M story sounds more like chocking on the candy NOT an allergic reaction. Also with most allergens like nuts or latex every exposure causes the allergy to get worse, every exposure. Any Mother that does not know her kids allergens needs serious education, in a small closed room filled with furry critters she hates.

My son had a reaction to o wasp bites. He was but 4 and near some kids who found it funny to antagonize them by throwing a ball at an abandoned car they were living in. I noted his reaction as had had a young brother who was allergic to wasp soon. Both times the eye lids became pure white. I took him to emergency and he received a shot of Benadryl. After that I keep a very close eye on him. He seems to have grown out of it thank God. But scary all the same. I'm sure they have come up with different medications but was so relieved at that time. May have been species of wasp. They were black. My land lord got rid of nest and car soon after wards. Another time we had a nest of bumble bees under our porch. Had to have 300 if not more. A large black cloud. One of them got me that time. 😭

48:04 - I'd bet it's both real and an excuse. She is struggling, probably from anxiety around achievement, and is using it to get out of changing, progressing, and possibly failing. Worse, she may not be aware, and certainly doesn't want to get help, and until she does, she'll continue to stagnate and deteriorate. I'm not sure the best way to approach this. She pushes back hard against criticism, but too soft a touch will, at best, achieve nothing; at worst, encourage and enable the behavior. I also don't think kicking her out will do much good, since she clearly isn't equipped to live on her own and take care of herself. If I were her mom, I'd force her to go to therapy, and go with her as well. Not to say I'd use brute force, but I might withdraw privileges in the house or that are paid for with my money. This could mean losing access to the Internet, refusing to drive her to places she goes for fun, or limiting her phone plan. I would also try to use short term and long term bribes, such as material goods, special foods or experiences, and, especially, helping her work towards a goal of some kind, like living on her own. Anything to convince her to want to improve, if only by that much. Plus, I'd be going too, probably to the same person. Preferably a family therapist that would let us one on one and together, and with the whole family on occasion. Maybe I'd hunt that I'd like to learn how to treat her better, communicate, understand her, etc. I'm sure she'd be thrilled, since she sounds pretty narcissistic. If, after a set amount of time that I determine jointly with my husband, she hasn't tried to improve at all, then I'd bring out the big guns and threaten to evict her or get her hospitalized temporarily. I would want to include professional help as much as possible, but this girl is toxic to live with and I would only accept so much from her. Trying to balance love and kindness with firm boundaries. You have to know when you've done all you can. :/
