Andrew Olson But actually that’s not what it is. It’s sometimes dumbed down to “white people wearing cultural outfits is bad” but it’s more for a very specific kind of issue. Which is using culture to perpetuate stereotypes, or to use cultures to boost ego. (Like performative allyship) “I am using this culture! Look at how woke I am”. And using culture as a quick way to earn cash. The original meaning does get lost at times, so much so that I had to do a lot of research into what a lot of people thought it was. Here was the basis for it. And I will admit that sometimes people call out cultural appropriation at times where it wasn’t present, but the original arguments seem like valid complaints.
