During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to gain insights into modeling plant disease epidemics with R. Professor Emerson M. Del Ponte provided a comprehensive overview of various methods for describing, visualizing, and analyzing epidemic data collected over time and space.
➡️ About our Guest
Emerson M. Del Ponte, a professor from the Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil, teaches plant pathology, epidemiology, and data science. He conducts scientific research in the field of plant pathology, develops apps to support research and teaching, and prepares future professionals and leaders.
He strongly advocates for an open and reproducible research model and culture that may ultimately contribute to a more accessible, transparent, and reliable science. This commitment led him to co-found the Open Plant Pathology initiative alongside Adam Sparks. In his lab, the team utilizes the R language for all statistical and data science-related activities.
