I was deployed in Afghanistan when he came to sing for us soldiers; I will always love and respect him for that. He, unfortunately, had himself a little scare when the sirens went off but he still came back on stage after we had the all clear. Not to mention, that smile of his always made my heart skip a beat. BTW one of my favorites of Toby's is, As Good as I Once Was, please try to react to it. Rest in power, Toby, you will forever be missed; may God continue to bless his entire family. Take care everyone and stay safe.

As a United States Marine Corps veteran, I absolutely loved him and his music. I saw him.in Afghanistan with the USO. That man gave so much to those who served this country. I can't name a single Toby Keith song. It's not my style of music. But I hate hearing about someone dying of cancer. I've been battling cancer since 2020 and fighting it is really tough. I've had chemo, radiation, and a stem cell transplant, so I know some of what he had to deal with. He fought the good fight. Rest in peace Toby.

I only had to face the prostate cancer, but I know there may/will be others coming. Mine was just a 6-8 month inconvenience since they haven't identified that it spread (compared to stomach cancer which is horrible). I wish you the most success possible in your unfortunate journey. When I went to OU, I can remember every football game seeing Toby on the sidelines. Now, living here again, I can tell you he still went to every OU football game and basketball game. He gave millions of his own money to the tornado victims in 1999 and 2013 and as Jay said, we love going to his restaurant in Bricktown. He will be missed. I wish I had seen this yesterday, we woudl have come down to Moore to the water tower next to I-35. But he was a class act and he did a Channel 9 local news story that you should see. He looked bad, but he still did some shows in Vegas like a few weeks ago. It's sad and will miss him! I love this bar!!! Red White and Blue....never will forget him!

My friend is from Norman, OK. Her family goes to the same church as Toby Keith's family. When she heard about his passing she cried and told me stories of the family and Toby's band. It is just heartbreaking. I was listening to Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue today in honor of him, and cried. What a great patriot and good man he was.

It’s hard on us from the Moore/Norman area. I went to HS when he did & Krystal was in my son’s class. Toby was a great man, Father & Grandfather. He did a couple of gigs at small bar here to benefit the old man that ran it & then Toby surprised him by playing for his birthday. I also saw him at the benefit concert for Moore tornado victims. When his class had their reunion in 2019 he also surprised everyone by joining them. He had a huge heart. We love you Toby! This was a gut punch!

This loss haunts me more than most! Besides the obvious connection,(we're both Tobys), on February 26 I turn 62, (the age he passed away at). Also my older brother Tom went through a bout with stomach cancer, thank god he beat it, and is still with us. R.I.P. to a great artist, and really cool guy.

Growing up Country music was on the radio in my folks cars. My 2 favorite artists both came from the OKC metro, Garth Brooks and Toby Keith. The first concert I ever went to was Country USA in Wisconsin and it had to be around 98-99. The headline trio that night was Montgomery Gentry, Toby Keith, and Sawyer Brown. I was so excited to watch Toby perform. Later in life I spent around 5 years living in the OKC metro and still love the area to this day.

Thank you so much for this touching tribute. I grew up in Clinton, Burns Flat, and Stillwater Oklahoma (among other places) and feel a great kinship with the state though I've live in California many decades now. My relatives live in Del City and Guymon. My wife and I have heard of Toby Keith but never really listened to his music - until your tribute to him came out. We've spent the last few weeks listening to his vast collection of music and I can really feel his authenticity and Oklahoma vibe come through. What really does me in, though, is his rendition of "Don't Let The Old Man In" during the 2023 People's Choice Awards. What a talent that man had. He stayed true to his morals, his state, and his country to the very end. I'm with you Toby.

Good on ya Jay and Amber! Toby would want us to have a smile today to celebrate his goin' home. Sooner Nation observed his life with stories all over media today. He was always on the sidelines at Sooner football games, was at Patty's Party Porch at the softball field usually with Barry Switzer and Bob Stoops. Toby was on the front row at the LNC for both men's and women's basketball. Toby was OUr guy and he was just a face in the crowd; no rock star, Hollywood fakery, Toby never changed from when he was in high school working as a concession vendor walking the stairs at the ball park selling popcorn . R.I.P. Toby Keith, you were the "best of the good ol' boys."
