রাশিয়ার কৃষ্ণসাগর শস্য চুক্তির মেয়াদ না বাড়ানো এবং ভারতের চাল রপ্তানি বন্ধের সিদ্ধান্তে বাংলাদেশের প্রধান দুটি খাদ্যপণ্য আমদানি নিয়ে নতুন জটিলতা দেখা দিয়েছে। এরইমধ্যে বিশ্ববাজারে পণ্য দুটির দাম বেড়েছে। স্থানীয় বড় আমদানিকারকরা বলছেন, কোনো দেশের সঙ্গে চুক্তি না থাকায় চাহিদা মেটাতে বিকল্প উৎস থেকে গম আমদানি করতে দ্রুত উদ্যোগ নিতে হবে। তবে সরকারের হাতে বর্তমানে ১৯ লাখ টন চাল, গম মজুদ রয়েছে। এছাড়া, ৫ লাখ টন চাল ও ৬ লাখ টন গম আমদানির অনুমোদন দিয়েছে সরকার।

কৃষি জমি অপরিকল্পিতভাবে বেদখল হয়ে যাচ্ছে। কৃষি জমি সংরক্ষন আইন ও আইনের প্রয়োগ আরো জোরালো করতে হবে। আফ্রিকার জমি লিজ নিয়ে কৃষিকাজ করা- এই প্রকল্পটাও বাস্তবায়ন করা জরুরী।

একদিকে দেশে চালের রেকর্ড পরিমাণ উৎপাদন, আর অন্য দিকে খাদ্য সুরক্ষার জন্য চালের রেকর্ড পরিমাণ আমদানি। ব্যাপারটা ঠিক বোধগম্য হলো না।
