The four N's are all orientation objects( The bottom two are not reflections of the top two), correct?

The 4 N's are 4 positions within 4 different time frames. The square is very much related with the 4 seasons. You don't need all 4 positions the whole time. An initiative is taken in the first square, performed and you undergo what is its reality in the second square, come to its dominating reality in the third square and then can take out something in the 4th one. New initiatives are idealized and performed from there. It's basically a time square as a yearly cycle that is representing the general background for all yin & yang performances.

PS. Seen from the position of space the position of N can be anywhere away from the centre somewhere in the volume, while being dependent on the right timing where it can appear and be useful as seen from there. There right, left, up, seen from space orientations, it doesn't really matter so much. Here the context is the time frame of how it is used in the Chinese script.

so PS= indeed they are not: they are just 4 positions, at 4 different timings. With N you pick out the right positions thanks to the right timings wherever they are, it matters when is the right time to pick them out.
