It was the last class of the day, an easy test, I had to finish it, give it to him and just leave, I was super nervous when I left the test in his desk, he stopped me because I was leaving as fast as I could, he gave one look at my test and said "Dante eh? The issue being that people don't bring pancakes into the vet which means that data set was extremely incomplete and presented and entirely false conclusion.
@Duke00x3 жыл бұрын
It is strength/toughness to weight ratio. Cats and other small animals terminal velocity (especially when they spared out their bodies and increase their surface area) is lower then the failure point of their bones/body. Lower falls are worse for them because they don't have enough time to adjust their bodies to land or to spread themselves out and increase air resistance.
@monke7919 Жыл бұрын
Fun fact cats actually have an in build self-balancing system that instinctively activates when they're falling and that's how they re-orientate themselves to have their paws facing the ground I can't say for certain cuz I'm not an expert and either but I think squirrels also have a similar thing and in the squirrels case they can also survive terminal velocity but cats can't according to google the height and velocity of a cat's fall can affect how likely they are to be able to properly orientate themselves to be facing feet towards the ground in time and whether or not they can walk off the injury after landing

11:19 The difference between falling six stories and half a story for a cat is that shorter distances give them less time to make adjustments in the air and result in more injuries typically a cat that Falls from six stories will have more injuries than one that fell from 10 or 12 simply because they didn't have enough time to adjust their bodies while in air and sustain more injuries
@itsyaboi23113 жыл бұрын

That cat is dead unless it got vet attention immediately. A cat that fell from a 4th store will still run and hide wherever it cat but it's because it's badly injured and hiding from predators. They might look fine from the outside, but they are bleeding from raptured organs and broken bones and would die without medical intervention. This is why you are supposed to always install a safety net. Edit: if you know a cat that fell from a very high place and lived or maybe even wasn't injured, that doesn't mean that it is what usually happens.

11:08 squirrels actually can fall from any height and be fine due to how they move and use there legs like shock absorbers and them being light , allows them to fall from terminal velocity

Cats have a low height that is more dangerous than a higher height. At a higher height, they manage to splay out and relax, which makes them much more resistant to damage. Most common injury is a broken jaw in those cases (which that cat might have had =/.). As for humans, we're unfortunatly cursed by larger mass. The surface/volume relationship f's us. Cats are about at the limit I think where that ratio starts making basically any fall dangerous. I think mice can fall from basically any height and survive (depending on other factors ofcourse).

11:13 I don't remember where i heard this, but i think cats can survive falling from very high heights. But if they dont fall from a hight enough height, the fall can kill them. Might have something to do with there not being enough time to reorient their legs and body to cushion the fall.

housecats are WEIRD. They can fall to near terminal velocity and walk away uninjured, but there is a sweet spot (bad choice of words considering the context) where if a cat falls from it they risk breaking bones.

Wait that was a cat!? From the way it ran away and what I saw of its tail I thought it was a raccoon!

Cats can (usually) land very well from 3 to 4 floors up where as a squirrel would have to fall about 4800 miles (which translates to 7724 km) to die because that is how long it would take them to starve to death and they can survive terminal velocity
@kaenryuuart5433 жыл бұрын
Wait wait wait. Imagine falling and dying not because of the fall but starve to death

While cats are good at surviving falls, squirrels can literally survive terminal velocity, meaning they can survive a fall from ANY hight. They just don't take fall damage

Cats in fact injure themselves a lot more in short falls than long ones as they lack the time to properly wright themselfs and land wrongly
@Nutamu3 жыл бұрын
the thing with cats...a short fall like 3 floors can hurt them worse than a fall of 20 floors...because with a short fall they don't have enough time to brace themselves. Of course you can't drop them from an airplane, there's a point where a high fall is too high but I've heard of cats falling from 6 stories just fine but falling 2-3 and breaking something.

My english teacher was an elite sniper in the US military... and almost no one at my school knew. Super soft spoken hippy lady, great teacher... confusing implications... how did that lady kill people with great efficiency? Guess she didn't have to worry about being too loud.

I have two teaches that I will never forget, one was my English and math teacher. she was always there, I had trouble writing at the age of ten and she was able to put me at the top of the class. the second teacher, was my law teacher. she celebrated my fourteenth birthday and got me a coffee machine because I was falling asleep in class. now I've got multiple published books and am working on my first full length novel using what they both taught me.
