For those wondering about u/howabout_that_lipton (abusive mother story) He eventually got his revenge to the fullest. His mom moved to a different country to escape getting arrested, but eventually she came back to “make things right” with her son, arranged by her aunt behind op’s back. Little did they know op called some officers in to arrest her at the airport. It’s a really sad and horrific story that honestly brought me to tears... I’m so glad that op had such a weight lifted off his shoulders, he’s doing well, and despite his mother abusing him mercilessly, and telling him he’s worthless and trashy, he’s currently trying to become one of the best photographers of this time.

My mom as well. But to hear her tell it she was the best mom in the world. Once I had kids she was a show off grandmother. I got an interview at CUTCO myself, went in the first day and it was the same thing: newly leased space. They actually told me that they'd just moved from a different space in the same building. They told me the same bullshit, "work on your terms." Holy crap, I used to work for Cutco! I was wondering when they would show up! I have talked to many friends who worked for them and we all agree that those people were full of BS. My "manager" would talk down to us like we were children and say things like "We're not here to hold your hand, you gotta be more responsible." Even though we were doing everything they told us to? Like, I gave them my schedule for school (Which they told me to do!!) and they still got mad when I couldn't come in for their "important meetings." I quit pretty soon after starting, to keep concentrating on college, and later got an email from some lawyers talking about how Cutco was being investigated because they didn't pay anyone during the training portion of the job. Needless to say I got a decent check in the mail later. :) F you Cutco. ♥

i had an interview with cutco at the beginning of the pandemic over zoom with another woman. the other girl being interviewed was sitting in her car eating and left the zoom about 15 minutes later. the woman doing the interview was a college student in her dorm. The only reason i was able to get the interview was through a girl (who i previously had a falling out with in high school), who had direct messaged me on instagram. after the interview i never spoke to anyone who worked for that company again, and ghosted them just because of the unprofessionalism. this video made me glad i did.

same I thought about working for Cutco cuz they offered 16 dollars an hour but I did a bit of research and found out that there was gonna be 2 weeks of unpaid training . So between that and the fact I can't handle rejection and the whole job is offering knifes to strangers. I decided not to do it.

I actually sold cutco for a while on the side, made decent pocket money. Still got about half my demo set from a decade ago, they are actually really good knives!

@@poisonedflowers they are decent knives. My family still uses the set we got when my two older siblings worked for them. Like 10 years ago I think.

I used to sell Cutco too lol. However, we were NEVER asked to pay for the knives in our demo-kits. If we wanted the knives, we could buy them. However, when we started it was a simple. "Here you go. Here's some numbers for you to remember, and that's that. You don't owe us, and we give you money even if all you do is basic hour long sell pitches to people." So, David was trying to cheat people. My manager for Cutco was surprisingly cool and legit. Never asked for shit, never tried the 'pyramid' thing lol. I didn't spend a dime to anyone else. I just bought my own knives. XD. I miss those knives though. They were good.

😭😭😭 I worked for cutco in highschool (briefly, for a week) I sold enough in the first week to get a knife set for myself (the homemaker set, retail ~2k) and $400 in commission and then left the company 🤷🏻♀️ I still get random phone calls from my old cutco manager. It's been 3+ years.

When I was a young dumb kid straight out of high school I drove my barely working pickup truck an hour to the big city to check out this Cutco company I saw adds for in the paper. I was pretty wowed by their demonstration and how much money I could make. Went home to tell my parents about it and they were very skeptical and (they're well off because of all their hard work, but I don't get any money to 'help make me a good man' [Now almost in my thirties I couldn't be more thankful for this]) they refused to loan me the money for the startup to begin trying to sell knives. God, I was so mad at them for not realizing how much money I could make. I thought they were just short sighted country folks that didn't understand big business. Teenage me was such a dunce. Thanks so much Mom and Dad.

My wife had gone through a similar experience in her younger years. She said it was a scam as well. The ironic thing is that Cutco does have good products (or they did at the time), yet to this very day they STILL get a bad rep. It’s been my experience that any walk of life that requires MLM activity is a huge waste of time.

Hahahaha I actually went to a Cutco interview when I was in college. I was looking for a summer job and the woman wanted to hire me on the spot. I remember being excited getting the job only to go home and learn more about the company afterward. After looking at reviews for about 5 minutes I called the lady who hired me and quit.

A few updates on the first story. A) The only family OP has contact with since reporting his mother are his Aunt (mother's sister) and his siblings who are being housed together with OP doing what he can to make sure they aren't separated. B) His mom managed to flee to South America. C) In R/Confessions, OP admitted that both the incidents of his mother nearly killing him by holding a knife to his neck (the first of 3 or 4 times she has tried to kill him) and when she burnt the two presents his aunt gave him for Christmas happened on the same day when he was 13. Later that night, OP grabbed a knife from the kitchen, entered his mom's room while she slept, all while his thoughts of suicide turned to murder. It was this moment OP realized he couldn't bring himself to physically harm anyone else. D) Someone stole OP's camera, but another user on Reddit sent him their old camera. E) OP's mom came back to the US with his aunt inviting him to pick her up from the airport and possibly reconnect. OP tipped of the cops and got her arrested. Turned his aunt had let OP's mom use her own passport to escape the country. This was OP's last update on this story (2 years ago) and said he was currently living in a homeless shelter, but was saving up to rent an apartment.

I'm so happy to hear about someone getting back at Cutco! Years ago, extremely desperate for work, I called the number in the paper about a job and could not get straight answers to my questions about the job. I was told "You'll be told all that at the job interview." I went to the interview on a super hot day in the car my mother had just transferred to me as she had gotten a new one. The temporary license was in the windscreen but the traffic cop didn't see it and chased me. It was near the location so I pulled into the parking lot, got grilled, showed the license in the windscreen, still got got asked for license and registration. Freaked out and stressed, and very hot and sweaty, I went into the location. I was taken aback by the large number of casually dressed people (shorts and flip flops) who were filling out forms. I was dressed for a proper job interview. My name was called out and I went into the office to be interviewed. So was another person. Two people being interviewed at the same time? The woman was just interested in getting all my information and finding out how many people I knew. I thought that very strange but I was very naive. I gave her my resumé (on very expensive paper and not cheap) and sat with the other people in the rows of plastic chairs. Then the demonstration happened with the cutting of a piece of rope, the pitch where we would have to buy a set of knives and sell them, etc. Since I was a nervous wreck at that time from a large number of recent traumatic life experiences, I didn't have the guts to give them what-for. But since I was a nervous wreck and broke, I knew I could not possibly sell door-to-door, and I certainly didn't have money to buy a set of knives. I left. I wanted to tell them off and get back my resumé, but didn't have the guts. I'm glad someone stuck it to to them! That experience helped me avoid another situation like it just the week after when I called another job listing and got the same run-around. I asked up-front if this was the same and the guy on the phone was kind enough to be honest. I thanked him most sincerely for his honesty.
