As a religious person (appauled by the parents' actions), I have often seen atheists feeling entitled enough to go on Christian videos to insult and belittle all the commenters. Heck, I saw it on one of DarkFluff's videos where everyone was sending positivity through their faith. I dunno... yes there’s an argument for it, but I’ve seen nuclear revenge as that thing where while deserved, the result is clearly above/beyond what karma calls for, perhaps not entirely legal, and perhaps includes permanent physical harm, or perhaps far beyond what the revenging person expected- ie: revenge that is fluffy (you can feel good about it...kinda) and dark (a why was it so much past too much?). Picture where you hand the culprit a karmic hand grenade , but the resulting explosion is measured in megatons, sometimes with the guy who provided the grenade questioning how such a small thing packed such a big punch, or actually feeling sorry for the poor bastard. That’s not what I’m hearing here in any of these stories. Other recent pro-range stories from Darkfliff, yes, but not this set.

The story of the bad tenant with foster kids makes me FURIOUS. Not only was she scamming and taking advantage of the landlord, she was stealing money from those children. Foster parents shouldn't be paying their bills with the stipend for those children. It's for clothing, activities, school supplies, etc. It's NOT for your rent/mortgage, utlities, car, etc. The closest you could go to paying a bill with it is if the foster child has a cell phone and you pay the bill with that money. @@DogeDragone You're right, you use 'an' before vowals, but it's also based on sound. FPS: eff-pee-ess. It's the same with "an FBI agent" "an NSA agent". It would be 'a' if you said 'first-person shooter'. It's 'an' because you word out the letters instead of blending the letters in words. Hope this makes as much sense to you as it did in my head when I wrote it.

“Thou shalt not use the Lord’s name in vain” doesn’t necessarily apply to saying “God damn it!”, that’s impolite, but what it really means is “Don’t use God or religion as an excuse to be a morally corrupted, lying, cheating, abusive maggot.”

I was also disowned by my family and thrown out of my house to be homeless for a while, but for different reasons still relating to their religion. This story gave me so much joy and I wish I had been as brave as that girl in story 2. Also, the middle finger at the end was amazing and I wish I could have been there for that. Some judges actually understand that the people they are making judgments for went through HELL and if anyone deserved to give someone else the bird, it was this kid. A "good" judge may get upset at this kind of behavior, but a truly wonderful judge understands the pain behind that and leaves it be. "Hate speech" is quite the accusation, coming from someone who neglects and abuses their children for having different opinions or a sexuality you don't agree with.

Carissa story: I'm glad OP asked for the story NOT to be used as a comparison for religion or atheism. Most people care for their children. However there are extremists that use religion (or a lack thereof) for the most hateful things imaginable. I'm glad Carissa got away and I can't fault her revenge, most of it needed to be done for her own future financial well-being. Over all, good job.

Good comment except for the parenthetical remark “or lack thereof.” I don’t know of any cases of atheists or agnostics using the tactics employed by these abusive parents in order to force their child to adopt heir beliefs. Do you have examples or other evidence?

Sadly that story where kids get kicked out by religious parents is actually pretty common. Usually the parents keep the identifying documents and the poor kids can't even prove who they are to get a job and the parents consider this crap "tough love." I'm glad it turned out good for Clarissa.

The story about the religious parents: If Carissa has an older half brother then one of her parents had been married (or with a partner) before. If the marriage ended because of divorce, then they are just as "sinful" as their daughter unless the marriage broke up due to infidelity. It's more likely that these parents are simply hypocrites.

My kids do things all the time that I don’t particularly care for but I still love them no matter what and I don’t try to make them conform to whatever twisted lifestyle I deem fit for them. It’s normal to want the best for your kids but that story is on a whole other level of insanity. I just can’t wrap my head around doing things like that. Those people are monsters.

I'm a trans lesbian and a bit of a Norse heathen, albeit an atheist about it. People who use religion to justify homophobia, transphobia, and other appalling behavior don't deserve to be called parents. They deserved far, far worse than jail time for their crimes. What they did to their daughter is a crime of moral turpitude.

I became a luciferian when I was about 14. My overly religious stepmom and aunt raised hell and kept me locked in my room for almost a year. I was homeschooled at that time. Shit sucked. I was constantly beaten and sometimes even wasn't allowed to eat actual food. While my family was eating dinner I got a glass of water and bread and an apple. My Jewish aunt found out about all this and raised hell got police involved and in the end I was still stuck. Now I'm emotionally and worldly stunted. At 18 I was kicked out and had no idea how the real world worked. Luckily my aunt helped me and still loved me even though our religious differences. Now I'm 32 and doing alright. I still have issues but I'm alot better off now

My Dad used to tell me, "little kids should be seen & not heard". I obliged- I saw, heard, & understood. Both he & my Mom almost fell over dead when I casually brought up skeletons, from their past, that I had witnessed first hand. Kids are way smarter than adults give them credit for.

Story 2: These sort of people are just psychopaths that use religion as an excuse, a shield against their horrible actions. These are the sort of people that need to be locked up for life. Considering what the parents were doing to ruin the future lives of ALL of their kids with their financial shenanigans it's for the best of all of them that the daughter saved them by going "Scorched Earth." It's also good that they already played their hand by throwing her out, because you KNOW they would be pulling out the emotional blackmail of "hOw CoUlD yOu Do ThIs To Us?!?" if any other kid had tried to do it, by throwing her out & saying "YOU'RE NOT OUR DAUGHTER" they'd already played that card. She saved all her siblings from those monsters, who were using their children holding out a carrot of imaginary "love" to abuse them. Financially for all for sure, definitely emotionally abusing them in the case of the Daughter with probably the same for the rest. Come to think of it GOD KNOWS, the other ways that he was abusing them all the kids that DIDN'T make it into the story.
