This is a Sibelius Artist synthesis with piano score.
The last movement (Alla marcia; “Finale”) begins with an abbreviated march that serves both as a scherzo and as an introduction to the Finale proper, as in Beethoven’s 15th string quartet. The Allegro appassionata that follows is a perpetuum mobile in loose sonata form, with both themes in the minor.
The sonata begins in E minor and stays in closely related keys until the Finale, when a series of modulations lead to a B-flat minor conclusion. In severity, however, the Finale returns to the mood of the first movements.
