The Caribbean is derived from the Irish accent. Lots of Irish were captured as brought as slaves or indentured servants to the Caribbean and America and Australia where they worked along African slaves and they integrated well and from that canes a culture. Reggae music is steeped in Irish syncopation and African drumming. In some Caribbean places their passport has the Irish harp on the front. They all drink Guinness and sing old Irish songs. Lots of pirates were Irish and English and Welsh. That’s where the pirate accent comes from. Two of the most famous were actually women and both have incredible stories. One (although not actually a pirate) is Grace O’Malley. The other is Anne Bonney. Check all this stuff out. It’s fascinating but rarely talked about because some people say it’s racist to say that anyone other than black people were slaves. Slavery was never racial until American politics got involved. Every type of people have been enslaved over thousands of years. It is the world’s oldest economic trade. Sad but true.
