Ρωσικός Ναύσταθμος: Ένα σημείο αναφοράς για τον Πόρο | Russian Naval Station, Poros

Στα δυτικά του λιμανιού του Πόρου, μέσα σε ένα πανέμορφο όρμο-κατάληξη μιας κατάφυτης απ’ το πεύκο μικρής κοιλάδας, είναι αμφιθεατρικά κτισμένος ο Ρωσικός Ναύσταθμος. Το σμαραγδένιο νησάκι Δασκαλιό στολίζει την είσοδο του γραφικού όρμου.
Το ερειπωμένο και χορταριασμένο σήμερα συγκρότημα των κτιρίων του κρύβει το παρακάτω ενδιαφέρον ιστορικό του.
Με τη συνθήκη Κιουτσούκ - Καϊναρτζί το 1774 μεταξύ της τσαρίνας Μεγάλης Αικατερίνης και του Σουλτάνου των Οθωμανών, με την οποία έληξε και ο Ρωσοτουρκικός πόλεμος του 1770 (Ορλωφικά.), οι νικητές Ρώσοι επέτυχαν μεταξύ άλλων και την ελεύθερη ναυσιπλοΐα του στόλου τους στις θάλασσες της Οθωμανικής επικράτειας. Ρωσικά πλοία από τότε έπλεαν στις Ελληνικές θάλασσες και ναυλοχούσαν στα λιμάνια. Η δραστηριότητα αυτή αυξήθηκε μετά και τον επόμενο και επίσης νικηφόρο για τη Ρωσία πόλεμο του 1788-1792. Διάλεξαν τότε και το ασφαλές λιμάνι το Πόρου για να φτιάξουν σταθμό για υποστήριξη του στόλου τους. Σύμφωνα με μαρτυρίες, από τα πρώτα κιόλας χρόνια του 19ου αιώνα η Ρωσική Ναυτική Υπηρεσία εγκαταστάθηκε στην περιοχή Στενό του Πόρου, στη θέση που σήμερα είναι το ΚΕ/ΠΟΡΟΣ, και έκτισαν τα πρώτα κτίσματα για να στεγάσουν αποθήκες υλικού υποστήριξης των πλοίων τους και φούρνους για να ψήνουν διπυρίτη άρτο (γαλέτα) για τα πληρώματα των πλοίων τους.
Οι εγκαταστάσεις αυτές έμειναν μέχρι το 1830, οπότε ο Καποδίστριας ζήτησε από τους Ρώσους να τις αγοράσει, για την εκεί μεταφορά του Ελληνικού Ναυστάθμου, αφού ο μέχρι τότε χώρος ανάπτυξής του (στη σημερινή περιοχή του Γυμνασίου) ήταν ανεπαρκής και άβολος, αλλά και δημιουργούσε πρόβλημα στον συνεχώς τότε επεκτεινόμενο οικισμό της πόλης του νησιού. Και παραχώρησε σε αυτούς τον μαγευτικό και κατάφυτο από πεύκα όρμο, κοντά στο βορειοδυτικό στόμιο του λιμένα για νέες εγκαταστάσεις, πού από τότε ονομάστηκε όρμος Βλαδίμηρου. Το νέο συγκρότημα που χτίστηκε ήταν μεγαλόπρεπο, και περιείχε περισσότερους και μεγαλύτερους χώρους για αποθήκευση υλικών και τροφίμων, παρασκευή γαλέτας, και αργότερα και αποθήκευση γαιανθράκων για τον ανεφοδιασμό των πρώτων ατμοκίνητων ρωσικών πολεμικών πλοίων.
Σήμερα το όλο συγκρότημα αποτελείται από το κυρίως κτίριο και τα παρακείμενα κτίσματα, όλα ερειπωμένα. Το κυρίως κτίριο που δεσπόζει πάνω στην παραλία και θυμίζει κάτι από την παλιά μεγαλοπρέπεια της Ρωσικής αυτοκρατορίας, αποτελείται από τρεις στενομέτωπους, ορθογωνικής κάτοψης χώρους τοποθετημένους στη σειρά, που στεγάζονται με ισάριθμους μεγάλους θόλους.

To the west of the port of Poros, in a beautiful bay at the end of a small valley overgrown with pine trees, is the amphitheatrically built Russian Naval Station. The emerald islet of Daskalio adorns the entrance to the picturesque bay. The now derelict and overgrown complex of buildings hides the following interesting history. With the Kyuchuk-Kainarji treaty in 1774 between the Tsarina Catherine the Great and the Sultan of the Ottomans, which also ended the Russo-Turkish war of 1770 (Orlovic.), the victorious Russians achieved, among other things, the free navigation of their fleet in the seas of Ottoman territory. Russian ships since then sailed in the Greek seas and docked in the ports. This activity increased after the next and also victorious for Russia war of 1788-1792. They then chose the safe port of Poros to build a station to support their fleet. According to testimonies, from the very first years of the 19th century, the Russian Naval Service settled in the area of ​​the Strait of Poros, in the place that is today KE/POROS, and they built the first buildings to house warehouses for support material for their ships and furnaces for to bake dipyrite bread (galeta) for the crews of their ships. These facilities remained until 1830, when Kapodistrias asked the Russians to buy them, for the transfer of the Hellenic Navy there, since the area of ​​its development until then (in the current area of ​​the Gymnasium) was insufficient and uncomfortable, but also created a problem in the then continuously expanding settlement of the city of the island. And he granted them the magnificent and pine-covered cove, near the north-west mouth of the harbor for new facilities, which has since been called Vladimir's Cove. The new complex built was grandiose, containing more and larger spaces for storing materials and food, making galette, and later also storing coal to fuel the first steam-powered Russian warships. Today the whole complex consists of the main building and the adjacent buildings, all in ruins. The main building, which dominates the beach and recalls something of the old grandeur of the Russian empire, consists of three narrow-fronted, rectangular spaces placed in a row, sheltered by an equal number of large domes.
