This is one of the best live recordings of this piece I've ever heard... and to think it's not with an orchestra is just scary.

Kevin Genus I think the Hermann Baumann’s could be the best recording ever! Both Baumann and Kurt Masur performance were a fantastic combination of good criteria.

A really excellent accompaniment from Mr. Chow. As far as the horn player, he seems to be totally into making beautiful music. I recently heard him play Britten's serenade for tenor, horn, and strings, and it was incredibly beautiful. As a reference, I heard Clevenger and the Chicago Symphony perform it back in the late 70's. I would put this guy's performance as good, if not not better, than that. I'm thinking that he'll soon be playing in Cleveland or Chicago. He has an incredible gift of musicality, and of equally importance, the ability to perform, if that makes sense.

As fine as Baborak and Dohr, the threshold of everything that is about horn and the lyricism of Cooper's playing just all-encompassing. It's simply superb.

David Cooper's playing is so amazing! He is the next Dale Clevenger/Eric Ruske.

Well, he was Eric's student, and Eric was Clevenger's student, so it doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

Yeah, I now understand why we saw so many 1st horns invited since 2010 (like Eric Terwilliger)... that was not so unpleasant after all !

In my opinion Mr. Cooper is the premier hornist in the world today. His technique is superb, his sound perfectly focused, with a dark centered sound regardless of the dynamics. His tone isn't harsh and "all over the clock", as if he's in a shouting contest in Yankee Stadium. If Hornists want to sound like a Euphonium, they should perform on one. Or worse, play a musical saw if they prefer a tremelo !
