Brother and i have one of these and an Arcdroid and love them to bits. When i have to hand cut with a plasma i get this mad glint in my eye and spend ages looking for things just to cut up. Its very adictive.

For gouging, it helps a lot if you can turn your workpiece vertical, so the liquid metal can flow out. Also, when you push instead of pulling, you blow the metal away from your cut.

Very interesting John. I have an R-Tec 30 amp plasma and am very happy with it, I have used it recently for gouging weld out on a Land Rover chassis repair and it works perfectly, very precise, almost surgical but you need to push instead of pulling (mostly). I tilt the torch along the weld and wash the weld away, as mentioned vertical down is ideal. It is a bit heavy on the electrode, they don't last long gouging. I would buy the 50 but I don't think my workshop supply would stand the load. Sad.
