If i live to be 70, it will mean ive spent a good 20 years in constant pain. Men in my family dont tend to be very healthy after 50. Cancer usually kills us before 60. Those who make 70+...its a relief when they go, because they usually have spent 5-10 years in nursing care. I hope to whatever gods or spirits are listening, that they pass Death With Dignity laws in the US...id rather go out on my own terms than be semi comatose, living off ventilators, dialysis machines, and external pacemakers...Thats how my granddad was for the last 7 years of his life, and because some members of the family are greedy fucks, the plug couldnt be pulled on him to give him mercy, since there was no single power of medical attorney. My ex wife is my power of medical attorney. she knows what to do, and i know she will respect my wishes when it comes down to it. We might be divorced, but we are still best friends.

7:50 It works like Pavlov's dogs learning that bell = food IIRC, Police dogs are raised with toys in their bed that smell like cocaine, and they slowly learn what their toy smells like, so when they grow up and become drug searching dogs, they're actually searching for their toy when going through luggage, cars, etc.
@redfailhawk3 жыл бұрын
This is actually pretty sensible, too. If you can turn a task into a game, a dog will play with you. Most people think service dogs are serious and no-nonsense, but most tasks are actually games when boiled down: retrieving dropped items is fetch, heel is a rally obedience task, button pressing is usually fun no matter your species. Police dogs are trained the same way.

@@redfailhawk When search dogs are deployed to look for human items or traces of missing persons, their handler pretends to throw something. 7:27 I've heard it's partially because dashcam footage is far more common in Russia due to how the car insurance system works there, so it's not entirely that more crazy stuff happens on Russian roads, but that the crazy stuff that does happen is almost always recorded. Similar to how Florida has a law that lets journalists have detailed info on every arrest that's made, so whenever there's a slow news day they do story's about some insane local incident that resulted in an arrest, when in other states that stuff would never be released. It's not that these places have more insanity, everywhere else just hides it better.

The machinery "drifting" in traffic is a skid-steer loader. The wheels can't be angled to turn like a typical vehicle, but the left and right sides can be operated independently (like a tank) so not only is that actually the proper way to move it, it's the only way to move it.

I work with the elderly, the “I hope this is my last” isn’t too unexpected, there’s a resident at my work who says she hopes her life ends soon. As morbid as it is, when you’re that age, you kind of accept and look forward to the end.
@georgiykireev96782 жыл бұрын
I wonder how much of that is just depression and the physical discomfort of old age, and how much is actual acceptance. Like, when we inevitably find ways to extend our lifespans into the mid 100s, will we even want to live that long? Or does the brain just kinda give up on life after a while?
@krystencabbage10322 жыл бұрын
@@georgiykireev9678 I'm 24, and the thought of living four times as long as I have exhausts me. I don't want to reach 100, I think 75-80 is a good natural lifespan, any more than that would lead to too much apathy, since my brain would run out of energy to care about things I think. Once I hit 75 (if I get that far) I'm doing all the drugs.
