R. v. Lavallee is most certainly a complicated case to talk about. It centres on a self-defence case arising from intimate partner violence, and its outcome changed the way that self defence law works in Canada. It is a case that put the concepts of equity and equality under the microscope, showing how our laws and legal concepts can be made a bit more inclusive. Despite how such improvements fail to solve all intersectionality issues.
