Thank you for making this helpful video. I am buying and trailering my first R 1250 RT this Tuesday. Do I need to place the bike into "transport mode" if it even has that feature (to prevent the alarm triggering or lights flashing for a silent alarm) ? The seller of the bike does not know. My Harley Softail has a transport mode feature. Thank you for any insights here.

Just dont put the alarm on and you should be fine.. also keep it in gear.

Your mileage may vary, but 2 things i avoid that Mr. Moon does: i do not tie to the crash bars. On the back, less of a worry, but if you use the front ones for primary tie down, it will probably bend, perhaps enough to tip the bike. And (this one is less important for BMW as explained in the video) put the sidestand up. I've had suspension bounce enough to bash a hole in the trailer floor.

and like i said, our bikes dont bounce. LOL And i said i dont tie to the crash bars but it can be done safely.

I just use a "soft pad" to slip the 1-1/2" straps I use through the back wheel to tie the rear from moving . I also only use straps with a locking hook or carabiner and the soft loop like your front ones. I never use the lightweight 1" Home Depot straps on 650 to 800 lb. bikes. I had a deer run out in front of me one time and my KTM 1090 Adventure bike at 450lbs sheared every one of them when I slammed on the brakes. I only use straps of 1-1/2" width rated for at least 1,000lb working load and 3,000lb break strength. Very good tutorial you did sir !

I only showed the home Depot straps because that what some people will buy. But i agree. Good straps are an investment in safety! Thanks for watching!

The instructions for the CapStrap system say to have the trailer tie down points basically 90 degrees to the wheel hub opening. Not forward of the hub or rearward of the hub like you have. I had ordered a set for my BMW RT and returned them unused when the available tie down points on my trailer would not allow me to secure the rear wheel as the TieStrap manual directed. I realize, however, that you have successfully used these straps in a manner contrary to the makers directions. I now wish I had given them a try.

well, i use the Condors because i can remove them from the E-track for different types and lengths of bikes. 😁
