Both Lin Dan and Taufik are great in their own playing style. It is the deception that you can create out of the game for example, Taufik has a fluid backhand smash and Lin Dan has an extraordinary jump-flick smash. That makes them extraordinary but in terms of winning mentality, Lin Dan shows a bigger desire to Win and that makes the difference although he does concede many walkovers due to chinese vs chinese matches.

Taufik hidayat is not someone who wanna be a badminton athletes when he was a kid.. Even he doesnt like to badminton... He prefer play football.. But he has a natural badminton skill when he was a kid so his dad push him to be a badminton athlete... Until he became a champion at 16 years old. He became golden boy... And became no 1 at 19 years old. So badminton is not his passion, but he just play what he has.. He never want the other coach except mulyo handoyo cz he doesnt need a coach but he just need a friend, a father, a brother and mulyo had it.. And lin dan always said. That "he will never be like now if taufik hidayat is never be" so taufik is very inspired him... Even they have simillar age but taufik is came too early as a teenager who can get hight level and lin dan watch it... Then he train very hard to be like taufik.. Until the age of 25 he got what he fight and always have passion to be a champion. But taufik, after he has anything (almost all tittles) and have his own family.. Badminton is not the priority.. Just enjoy the game. And Be a champion just addition..he slower and lazier.. So, wrong if said wht he has got its like "lucky".. "lucky" just happen one or three times. Not many time n almost complitely. He kinda ratchanok.. Akane.. In woman single right now. even they do not have all england and olympic yet.. But they have many opportunity in the future.

Susi Susanti is the 'Ballerina' of badminton. Taufik Hidayat is a legend. What Hendrawan said is true. Both Lin Dan and Taufik are greats. Difference of styles. I have seen how fast Hedrawan plays but watch how Taufik mellows him down with his smooth and graceful play. Taufik came first and made history at 17. we have to remember him. Taufik won asian games at age 21, Olympic at age 23, WC at age 24. He finished 2 times runner up at All England (now super series level) at age 17 & 18 respectively. Prodigy. LD also prodigy but he blossomed after TH somehow lost his motivations to compete at high level.

Every players just have their different peak. I admit in terms of talent, taufik is definitely better than lcw. But compared to lin dan, taufik is literally 2-3 level below him. Badminton is not just about technique and backhand. Lin Dan is way too superior in term do wrist strength, attack, footwork, defence. While the only thing taufik is better is his backhand control

LD was 2 years younger than Taufik. Taufik started playing competitive international competition at 16 while Lin Dan only turned professional at age 20 (that's becoz there are many competitive senior chinese players on the table and he has to wait for his turn). Taufik became world no. 1 at 19 while LD became world no. 1 at 21. Between the two Taufik always has the slight advantage until 2006. In 2006, they were almost equal. The most epic matches between the 2 were in Asian Game where LD beaten Taufik twice in team events but lost to Taufik in MS final. Thereafter (2007 and above), Taufik has not won a single match against LD.

What is more exciting is the style is definitely Danish European and I see future in that, if you can display that sort of speed in every game then I can not see why you can not beat anyone in the world. To all Taufik fans, watch how he outclasses the spiky Chinese in Badminton 2006 Asian Games MS Final. mind you, he had a back injury. poor fitness. and yet, he systematically broke down Dan. those drop shots of his are pure magic. Not to mention that he still has his amazing footwork. Taufik Hidayat has the world's fastest forehand smash - 310 km/hr and also world's fastest backhand smash - above 200 km/hr

I'm not trying to downplay Taufik Hidayat but I think that the key to Viktor's win here is simply play deceptive lifts to the back of the court as serve returns to completely shut down Taufik's impeccable net and deception abilities. Notice how Taufik strained to properly return shots at the 2 backcourt corners. He simply went for lifts/clears and half hearted drop shots in which Viktor pressed his offensive. This went on for 2 straight sets then it's simply gg. The lesson here is, even if you got the best footwork and racket skills in the world, if your opponent has more determination to play a long and drawn out game than you, you will find yourself in trouble. Fitness is important.

i think taufik already lost his stamina in set 2, so basically he dont have chance in set 3. I am an indonesian, and in my country Already have rumors that he was lazy traning since he married to agum Gumelar daughter. Agum Gumelar is former minister in Indonesia. maybe he lost his goal and motivation for playing badminton. but when before he get married, taufik is really good equal to Lin Dan And Lee Chong Wei. Not Offence, it doesn't mean Axelsen is not good. He Really GOOD player in young age. I But The Score 21-16, 9-21, 14-21 it not really reflect their skill. the difference too far, maybe it should difference 3-5 point in my opinion.

Lin Dan has won 50 titles. Taufik has 27. Lin Dan's +/- stat is +398(!!). He has only won about 60 more matches than Taufik according to BWF but he hasn't lost as much. Look, saying Lin Dan is the greatest player ever does not in any way diminish what Taufik has achieved. Like, for a while Taufik had IMO the upper hand in the rivalry, having almost even H2H and beating Lin Dan in the big events when it mattered. But from a career AND level of play perspective, Lin Dan is the better player.

Mr. Chen, i understand that being a Chinese you have your favourites amongst the Chinese players. Well, they are good. But then everybody knows that the Indonesians play are far superior style than that of the Chinese. Theirs is a far more fluid style than that of the Chinese. Besides, it is very foolish of you to say that Taufik Hidayat's achievements aren't special. Indeed they are and the whole world of badminton bows down to his talent. He is a legend all over the world.

i am not saying that Lin Dan isn't good. He definitely is. I am fully aware of the facts. But to say that Taufik Hidayat isn't great is sheer foolishness. That is what i was trying to tell Vincent Chen. But you see, when someone is biased, he is surely blinded. everyone has their personal favourites. n mine is Taufik Hidayat. I prefer his style of play. Lin Dan may have won the Olympics twice. But you see, History is made by 'firsts' and TH is the first to have won the Olympix and WC together!

Lin dan = first and only player to win 2 Olympic gold first and Only player to win 5 Wc first and only player to win Olympic and 5 WC first and only player to win 2 Olympic and WC first and only playerto win 2 Olympic and 5 WC first and only player to win 2 Olympic , 5 WC and 6 All england First and only Player to win all major titles 2x first and only player to achieved 19 world titles. Taufik Hidayat first to win Olympic and WC yet player like Chen long, Caroline marine, Zhang nan, Zhao Yunlei, Tontowi Ahmad Lilyana Natsir, Tian Qing, Hendra Setiawan, Fu and Cai Yun and so on, they all of achieved more than that. First to win mean nothing if everyone are able to achieve it. But first and Only thats what counts.

Taufik Hidayat is just outside of the top 10 whereas Victor is is not even in the top 20. does that say something?! Taufik is like Federer, they are getting old but they are still going and in the top 20! Have some respect!

What strikes as the most outstanding difference between this game and games of today is the amount of time between rallies. In the 3rd set the players take as much time in between rallies as players today take in their 1st set starting at 0:0. Even with shuttle changes they are quicker to serve than in todays games without a shuttle change. This is what annoys me about todays games, there is so few badminton in the badminton match.

Taufik has a lot of experience and he has been decreasing hes skills amoung the last years as we can see... He was as good as Axelsen when he had hes age! Axelsen is machine , very explosive game, very precisse as well. As for Taufik, he makes the sport worth to exist! Both great players both to be respected and fuck all the ones who say Axelsen suck cos he has already made history in badminton.

dari dulu Taufik emang gak terlalu bagus cuman gak ada saingannya aja. kalau sekarang Lin Dan aja gak bisa bersaing. kalau Axelsen emang komplit skill+posture lagi on firenya sekarang
