Cool man, thank you - - this is good information to consider. We've been running the reusable oil filters in our R1's for years and neither of us has had any problems at all. Glad you took the time to comment and let us know so other riders can decide how they want to approach it. Cheers!

I just purchased 2 of these. one for the honda pilot and one for the dodge diesel. got tires of buying filters and this way i can actually see how the motor is doing.

Yeah man, what you see in the video is how we do it. Then we dry it off and wipe it down. We both run these filters and clean both filters this way with no problems but there are other ways to clean it. This has just always worked fine for us.

Yes, will add to our long list. We're here to help out all we can, but the list is very long and we are pretty far behind on the next 4 how to videos we are shooting and also editing some GoPro videos too. Sorry that we won't get to it any time soon. Feel free to get our email from the website and holler at us if you need a tip with the clutch. We'll help out best we can. Thanks for watching, glad we could at least help somewhat already!

You will like them - great product and pays for itself eventually. Thanks for commenting.

Yeah, I told Todd about that and he said be sure you ALWAYS USE GLOVES! We just forgot since we were filming and all. A guy at his shop never wears gloves and got really sick from all the chemicals going into his skin.

Yeah you do have a point. We always recycle our oil and use proper containers (see oil change and radiator flush videos). We rushed this one just to show the general steps involved. This is not the best way to do it and we certainly don't want to promote not being cool to Mother Earth. We will re-shoot the video and take this one down. That was the plan to begin with, but for you, we'll move this up the production schedule. Thanks for your insight here!

@Britishman00 Haaaa, good catch! Ya know, we gotta say it the right way and then of course sneak in a short cut. "Do as I say, not as I do." Short cuts are for production purposes, shame on me for not catching that when editing the video. If we had T-shirts or something, we'd send you one!

I hit the wrong button and might have erased a comment so I am copy pasting it from email: The filter comes with 2 o-rings but you are supposed to change your o-ring with every oil change. - dkw12002 dkw12002 - while it is recommended, you don't have to. We have both changed our oil many times on the same O ring. No problems, no leaks. We are saving it for when the original O ring finally dies. But change it regularly if you like - after all - it's your bike! Cheers!

I've built lots of motors, and I can tell you that I would never use a reusable oil filter, ever. Just my personal recommendations. You'd be surprised how small the oil galleys get, doesn't take much debris to clog one. I know they might be "higher flow", but there's reasons for that, that can make them dangerous. Saving a few bucks on something that filters the life blood of my engine isn't something I'd want to do. If I smoked, I'd probably just quit that instead. To each their own though!

@jearlj1987 ♦♦ Thank you man! How To Change Radiator Fluid on Yamaha R1 video is in the can and almost ready. We will post it as soon as I finish editing the video - might take a few days more. Then we are filming how to change front tire, front breaks, front break lines, and break fluids. It will be a while, but will be well worth the wait. Stay visible!

Is it as good as paper oil filter ?If it did not filter the oil well, it would damage the engine ? (Sorry, im not good at ENG), thanks for reading my answer.

Dude, dude you wash the oil filter with water after cleaning it with the carb cleaner or did you just dried it up?

He said "clean exterior part with hot water" then hosed it down? lmao
@R1VideosdotCom11 жыл бұрын
yes, better than a paper filter for sure.

Yeah, but carb cleaner is what we use because it does the job and doesn't cost much. Is there a reason you do not want to use carb cleaner?

"How To Check and Replace Break Pads" and "How to Install Steel Braided Break Lines" and "How To Remove Seat Cover on R1" are in the can and currently being edited. We will release them in the next few weeks or so. There is also a good bit within those videos about bleeding your front break lines and changing out the break fluid. - Get Your Fix!

@MetlHead37 We are working on getting the funds to bring a gal down that was on Fear Factor, on the Texas Bikini Team and in Playboy. She's a good friend of ours but doesn't work for free so we have to find a way to make some cash! Guess we'll have to find a way to take donations on the site via paypal or something. Yeah, that might be the next project!

However, we do have to add: says the dude on the Sportster that dumps more oil at a red light than we did in this or any video we'll ever do. Just sayin...
