At 3:12 when I am installing the battery, I show installing the snorkel after installing the battery. Please install the snorkel first before the battery. I do this when I set up the machine. It is the correct way to do this as to not draw a vacuum on the pump. I think diving 20+ hours a week for the past couple weeks on this thing caused me to invert the process haha. Anyway. Cheers to all and hope you have a good one!

Hey Patrick, I think I mentioned this before in a prior conversation, but I also have a Nemo. The BLU3 company has a product under development rated to 25' called the Nomad, but they told me it wouldn't be released until next summer as an estimate. I didn't want to wait. For anything deeper then about 10', I strap on the tank, but you're spot on, unless you're looking for a lost outboard or something similar people mostly lose things in less than 5-10 ft. THE BLU3 website says they're a "sister company" of Brownies. Not sure what that means, but with the advantages of the Nemo, I'm guessing there will be some significant sibling rivalry! I like the unit a lot, although the harness takes some getting used to. Well done on the video.
@AmphibiousDetecting4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words sir! I heard the same information I think you did about the nomad. Because I already have a deeper unit, that's what I would run, but I definitely can see the nomad being popular in the future. Someone told me that brownies owns a controlling interest in blu3. Maybe thats what they mean by sister companies haha! Tanks deeper though IMO is a smart move for a lot of reasons for sure. Have a great week! Enjoyed your post!

Very useful information! I did not know those devices existed! One thing that happened to me while snorkeling in the beach in Puerto Rico was dogs curious about my snorkel. Suddenly I had two different dogs swimming to where I was. Don't know if they thought that I was drowning. Very friendly though but as soon as I got out and stared at them, they went back to shoreline. Very interesting. Never occurred to me to film them! 🙄

I can't wait to see what the specs are on the nomad myself! I think once we all have those it will be really interesting how the overall markets going to be impacted. For the money though this things awesome. I find myself using this unit 5x1 of the f285x. I just don't need to go deep to find cool stuff. Also many lakes that have old swimming holes are small and don't allow gasoline engines on them. So for that this was essential. Cheers man! Have some great adventures this week.

@AmphibiousDetecting Жыл бұрын
Sorry about the wildly delayed response. I can breath quite easily with it. When the battery gets low breathing becomes laborious which is a darn good sign you're past your dives limits and need to surface. A gas powered unit or tanks you just stop getting air, so as with anything. pre planning your dives is important so as to not exceed the limits of the batteries.

Is it more quieter under water lets say at 10 feet?
@AmphibiousDetecting3 жыл бұрын
Yea for sure. The further away from the compressor you are the quieter it is. Personally I dont notice the noise much, but im also wearing detecting headphones. So take with that what you will. Compared to the gas powered one I have its definitely quieter. Certainly nothing beats tanks for noise and freedom of mobility, but the challenges with tanks put them outside of what I want to have tied up for money right now. Down the road, if I can buy a compressor to fill my own tanks. Thats probably what I would switch to. But you're then talking 5 figures into gear at that point to be able to do that.

OMG I didn't know you bought the Nemo. I wanted for a long time to get hold of this. It would be perfect for me in Hong Kong. Once i get one I'll be reaching out to you for lots of tips on the use. Did you get a good price for buying x4 batteries? I've been hanging on for quite some time waiting to see all the reviews etc plus i ordered a new Scoop from the USA and it took almost a whole year to arrive. So i'm a little nervous to purchase if it takes a long time. Does you friend have a website i can see for the purchase of the Nemo? Also Ive been cleaning up but subscriptions so much easier keeping up with posts now.
@AmphibiousDetecting3 жыл бұрын
He doesn't have a website unfortunately, and I'm not sure about shipping outside of the US. But they are made not far from you so I'd have to think there is a dealer somewhere out there. Having 4 batteries really isn't necessary. I get 2 hours out of each battery. But if for whatever reason I forget to charge one or my buddies batter dies then its handy to have one around. The thing is awesome. Hope you can find a dealer there. Cheers!

@AmphibiousDetecting4 жыл бұрын
They rate them for a minimum of an hour, but personally I am averaging 2 hours per charge while detecting. There was 1 instance I exhausted a battery in 88 minutes where I spent the entire time at 10 feet digging hard. There have been a number of times where I have gotten more then 2 hours while creek diving because I've had to stay shallow, but oof... that current had me working hard.

Certainly a great piece of gear, already in the process of getting one, here in Australia about $1400 big ones. Cashing in all of the lead and scrap and have already $600 towards one. Check out my channel, just started. I have Scuba, but the cost of refills for that in between depth to 10 feet gets costly. Great vid and showed how easy it is to use, big thumbs up. Dang that's some good payout on lead! I've been giving the stuff away to a guy who makes bullets out of the stuff haha. Yea the refills are why I initially decided to go hookah.
