I noticed it with my Lexus V8, its been cooked at least 4 times but its still got a mint set of head gaskets. I think its just oily schmutz that's made its way into the cooling system form various sources. Best way to know is to TK test it and also give it a compression test, because once you strap a huffer to it and you've got a hurt motor, she ain't gonna play ball with you, let alone last any length of time. Best thing to do is get a steel layered head gasket and a head stud kit, and that old dirty 30 will be mint for boost
